Patcham Place B&B is lovely and as central as you can get without the nightlife sounds disrupting your sleep. I know, because I've BTDTGTT.

Been there sooooo many times when we lived in GP and always made a point of staying in a different place each time...all within safe walking distance from the square...each was unique and quaint and none were a bad experience.
Either way you're sure to return multiple times.

Same! For sheer value I always punt Maluti Mountain Lodge, but it's not central or really within walking distance from everything.

Thanks Finn, many moons ago I stayed in JHB and used to go run the Golden Gate half marathon there a few times and sommer made a weekend of it. We stayed at the Golden Gate (name?) Hotel once, another time in town somewhere I remember rondawels and peacocks and stayed on a farm once as well; we always had a wonderful, relaxing time there. I haven't been back in about 16 years though.

Thanks Mike Greeff, appreciate the offer, I am just waiting to hear from somebody now, actually just sent the whatsapp before opening this thread.

Probably 400m from me. It’s a nice place, enjoy it. I’ll pass you on my run tomorrow morning.

    Thanks Mike, glad to hear.

Yes looking forward, but only going the last weekend of this month. Will look out for you, look for a white ND Touareg.

A few years ago I would have joined you for a lekker local run, but a torn meniscus in my right knee in 2016 put paid to that, now I only mountainbike. Your Golden Gate 21k run is still one of the toughest road half's I've done.
