    @JohnnoK Thank you very much, as usual, good advice and experience. This would also be of great value for that section of wire from the alternator on our 300 Tdi's (you know, the bit that keeps on being cooked by the exhaust manifold!).

    I did this recently when my motor was out on many of the cables that run close to the exhaust.
    I would suggest also that you get some to fit the hoses on the gearbox cooler hoses you are planning to install that run near the exhaust, mine have already charred a little in some places that run close by.

    Yes, I was thinking along those lines too. It gets hot there!

    But I've also been hatching a plan to take those cooler lines the OTHER way round - route them on the driver's side of the engine bay, well away from the exhaust.
