Cahora Bassa 5 years ago. IIRC about 5.5 kg's. Biggest one that came out 8.8 kg's (not me, my fishing buddy).

    My one's.

That year at Jozini I won first and second place.

We are fishing the Jozini Classic in October, can't wait.

Jozini doesn't have the giants like the Delta.

    Unfortunately not, that was 2014.

    Two different fish those.

    One Candover, other opposite side.

This year I am targeting the Pongola River inlet and the Jozini Dam wall.

8.300kgs (18lbs 4ozs) caught 2 hours into 2005 KITFT (Kariba International Tiger Fishing Tournament). We, Team Charter "S", won the tournament that year, I think we were in the lead from the time I landed the fish, got real lucky, she took me around a submerged tree, guessed which way she had wrapped and she came straight off.

9.200kg (20lbs 4ozs) caught at Tafika on the Zambezi River, my PB, thrilling experience. Fantastic fishing camp. If interested read my TR (Mana/Tafika 2018) which has a link in my signature below, we caught plenty double digit, pounds not kilos, fish in the trip.

My first Tiger was a minnow, caught in the Panhandle part of the Okavango, but by FAR the one I remember and treasure the most:

I would never have caught anything if it wasn't for our guide, Otto. After leaving me for about a half hour to my own devices , a 9 weight flyrod and self tied flies, he cautiously asked if I wanted to catch something. I said "yes" and he very kindly said "let me show you how, it isn't a trout" (about which I knew quite a bit). To my credit, I was smart enough to know that local knowledge trumps everything, and I did what Otto said.......minutes later my first Tiger was on!

But that's not what made it so special, that thrill was supplied by a nearby Fish Eagle that also had local knowledge that trumped ours ........ sadly the little Tiger did not survive the release and the Fish Eagle, who must have been watching the whole thing, came swooping down out of nowhere and snatched it. Later, the same day, my two sons, then about 10 years old, also caught their first Tigers on spinning gear.

Afterwards Otto got a fat tip but still, with a big grin, raided my flybox of a dozen flies or so for his future clients. I decided to take it as a compliment.

Not as big as the ones already posted. Just over 1kg. It was at Jozini. With my late friendís dad and brother. We were 5 people on a small boat. One if the five being a 7 year old boy. We caught 93 tigers in 2.5 days. Had a blast. Most of them between 1-2kg.

My dad worked for a guy who had a fishing charter company at Cahora Bassa. He fished for about 3 years, after which he came back to RSA, the oak did not pay my dad for many months and my dad, being as he is, trusts everyone, had no contract. Anycase, his biggest in the Zambezi river close to Tete was 10.7kg.

My life got too busy (as it normally does), so I never visited him there to fish with him. What a pity.

    Cheers
