Hi,
I have a weird problem on my Jeep. The engine stutters violently in reverse as if it is misfiring on some cylinders and the power steering "shakes" the steering wheel when turning. Putting it back into drive all appears to be fairly normal again.
If anyone experienced a similar problem & solution please let me know? Other forums suggest it's the coils but how can this only happen in reverse? The coils are quite expensive to replace just to see whether that is my problem.
Thanks
I have an update if anyone is interested. It's the ignition coils. All of them had to be replaced. And 6 months later they are acting up again so I guess that coils are now considered maintenance parts that need regular replacement![]()

Coils will fail due to crap cords and crap plugs, among others. The question still stands: did you talk to Bulli or Eben?

Sounds more like Transmission to me, could be a Solenoid in the trans that is stuck open (some forward drive solenoid) and fights the reverse when its engaged. I'm currently in this boat with a conversion motor.
