Default What are the 3 most reliable bakkie engines that will last the longest

I'm looking for alternatives as some secondhand prices have become a value for money issue to me....

Those bakkies that have a good track record for remote travelling ..

I would add the 4JH1 Isuzu from the Go Big 2004-2007. Bit of a donkey with the ratios they ran on them, but reliable.

The Taxi industry was always reliant on the Toyota 4Y engine and now the 2KD .

If you consider the daily abuse these engines endure and the number of them on the road vs the number of taxi I have seen broken down they must be pretty reliable.

Not a bakkie engine unless you buy a Patrol Single Cab TD42. If you can find a decent one.

That was what I was alluding to. A Patrol pickup. There are quite a few available.

Diesel, I'd say the 1HZ Toyota, and the 2,4 Diesel (Toyota), and the 2,5 Diesel (Isuzu).

Petrol, the 2700 i (Toyota), the 2200 4Y (Toyota) and the 2,0 18R (Also Toyota).

Also the 2.5 diesel Toyota engine.... I'm driving a 2011 Hilux 2.5 diesel at work and everybody on the mine drives it and with almost 400 000 on the clock and engine_wise .... No issues.... Still runs with original turbo and even has the manufacturer clutch still working on it....
