Next year apparently only I think. Reason is that it's built locally and not imported.

Next year. I spoke to a guy from he factory last week and there will also be a new 1,9 liter diesel with a 6 speed gearbox coming to the SA market as well.

    Very good to hear.
Funny that Aus only get the 3.0 and their diesel is cleaner than ours?

There is more at play than just that. Some markets have stricter emission laws than others. This is why you will find the 1.9 diesel engine in Euro markets and not the 3.0L. The UK for example only have the 1.9 D-MAX on sale now..

Our emission laws work differently in SA than international markets. Then of course decisions are made as to who the buying market will be? What class are they? What is the income bracket they will target? What will their buying motives be?

I doubt we will see the 1.9 engine in the Mu-X. But we are expecting it in the D-MAX.

Yes but they are rumors only. There may still be a base model with a 2.5 for the fleet buyers who are not concerned about having all the latest tech and gadgets. I think it would be a great call but nothing other than a rumor right now.

And with that said we have no idea which 2.5 engine would be kept. The 2.5 leed or 2.5 D-TEQ. I've heard that the 2.5 Leed (in base and base Fleetside) engine is currently only being used in the SA market. So I wouldnt be surprised to see this engine drop out with the 2.5 Dteq now being the base engine. But we shall see what happens.

I think that the 2.5 Dtec has also being discontinued in most markets in favour of the 1.9?
Must say, I think there is a huge market for a affordable, reliable 4x4 bakkie without all the latest bells and whistles. Something that can tackle Mahindra?
Cant see myself spending 760k on a Cruiser and working with it,.ironic since its a workhorse, but a 2.5Dtec fleetside(with manual windows, without central lockingetc) would make a great worker.

I wanted to buy the new Isuzu but got so frustrated with their lack of providing answers that I went and bought the new Toyota Legend. This is after owning a few Isuzu's and loving the brand.

A person can only wait for so long.

I have officially seen an SA built new D-MAX. Looks very good in fact I couldnt notice any difference to the current X-Terrain model in Aus with one exception! I am pleased to say the mag design on the vehicle was different than the overseas models.

Perhaps not. But there are certain people who have trusted me with certain information and I intend to keep their trust.

How does a company retool for a new model, as in this case?
Surely the old production line is still running, but a new one is produced like you said?
Or is it one thats imported from Aus and given SA treatment?
Surely they wont have two lines running?

That's exactly what they have done. Build a new production line while still making current model.

Does take a lot of space I guess?
I thought that they would produce excess, then stop and modify new line.

    Thanks for info.

Well when GM was still here you must remember that they were producing the entire Isuzu range as well as certain GM products like Opel Corsa, chev sparks etc. So when Isuzu took over the factory and formed Isuzu SA they took over a pretty large and existing production facility. But they have no doubt still had a lot of challenges. They started building the new production line in 2019 already but Covid has had a major impact on the planning. Hence the delays.

Any thoughts on the new 3.0 using Unit Injectors instead of common rail?

The 3L (4JJ3-TCX) is still common rail. Just a stronger fuel pump, different injector placement in the head and no command piston.
