The positive so far is that we are at least winning some medals. Well done to the swimming team.

I loved the opening ceremony and the outfits.

Now the negative, some a-holes stuck in the victim mentality who think anyone cares what they think, are just having a field day saying that the combination of the colours (black & white zebra/leopard print) designed by 4 up and coming black fashion designers, are symbols of apartheid and it brings back bad memories and all the other shite they can spew forth. Google searches so far has not found one picture of any old SAPS or national servicemen in a printed zebra/leopard shirt/romper running around oppressing anyone.

Interesting to see the different takes on Simone Biles decision to withdraw over mental health.

Congrats to Bianca and Tatjana, great stuff, silver to both ladies.

Men's 7s, what the hell happened? Beaten by a 6 man Argentinian team in the quarterfinals.

Chad le Clos, got 5th place.

Same thing with Naomi Osaka recently.

Load of bollie and attention seeking.

If you want to compete on a world stage in something, be prepared for whatever comes with it. Stress, criticism, press interviews the lot.

Rather stay home to begin with and not pull out while knee deep innit.

Im with you on that. Don’t want to seem insensitive but gee whiz. Rather give it my best and lose, than quit.

    It's the snowflake generation.

The older generation cannot understand their never ending frailness.

"I have to focus on my mental health," Biles said. "I didn't want to go out and do something stupid and get hurt... At the end of the day we don't want to be carried out of there on a stretcher."

Life is hard. If that’s the attitude of our future leaders, well…

Look, I would never want to have a go at someone over what they might be experiencing and how it affects them, no matter how trivial it may seem to me.

But I have to ask, why wait until you are at the Olympics before the final and then have this epiphany?

Could have saved loads of money by not going, could have afforded another younger gymnast the opportunity to maybe go to the Olympics.

    Exactly.

She would have known the pressure that is coming if she goes to the Olympics.

I also don't get this withdrawing for mental health reasons thing and I hope it doesn't become the trendy thing to do.
Probably 50% of being able to compete on such a level is mental, ask any sports person whether in golf, rugby or boxing, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, or don't even go to the kitchen to begin with.

If she had mental issues she should not have gone to the Olympics' in the first place, she took a spot which someone else could have used.

The world is changing and I don't like it, bloody Snowflakes.

Then you get the teenagers in swimming and skateboarding and diving etc. who are loving the opportunity to compete, taking names and kicking (mostly older people's) a s s!

Better not let our commission for genders equality see that!

What's the big deal? That's the way my wife and I greet each other before one of us tries to put the kids to bed.
