Default Recovering a Vodacom cell no?

I need to recover a specific cell no, it starts with 066, and is not currently in use. It was on Vodacom previously, not sure if it was on contract or prepaid, any idea how to get this done?

Impossible to do anything about it, if the number lapsed and went back in to the so called number pool then there's nothing you can do.

I tried earlier this year and Vodacom can't help, even if the number isn't currently in use, you can't request that they allocate it to you or something. Even businesses can no longer request specific numbers these days.

Dirk if you have Telegram or WhatsApp, type the number into your contacts and see what pops up. Also try Trucaller if you use it. All I can think of now.

The number is no longer in use, that is why I am hoping to somehow get it allocated.

Can you not request a sim swop to that number instead of asking for it as a 'new' number?

I had to do a sim swap. I was told the number must still be active and I had to tell them 5 phone numbers I had called with that number. I wrote them down, they verified, and assigned the number to a new SIM.

I was always under the impression if the number had been RICA'ed with your details it cannot be reallocated .

Vodacom recycle the numbers after 185 days. The other networks after 90 days

You can only SIM swop to a number which is still active and which you can prove belongs to you.
So even if it belonged to Dirk and was RICA'd in his name, they recycled it so it's back in their number pool.

Apparently they can no longer choose numbers out of this pool it is all randomly assigned, in the past they could do it, so I don't know why it changed.
In the past businesses could request numbers and anyone could pick from a bunch of numbers if buying a new SIM card.

I won't be surprised if 082, 083 and 084 numbers become hot commodities one day.

According to my sources, the number is not currently active on either MTN nor Vodacom

Maybe someone has a contact with the other providers?
