    Default Test drive

    Hey all

I'm test driving a few jeeps tomorrow.
Was wandering what is an acceptable distance to take the car on a test drive.
I want to take it far enough to simulate a daily drive maybe 30 t0 40 k's.
    Does this sound reasonable?
Is it to much to take off road.

Hehe, if you are test driving new ones, drive them for as long as possible. The important thing is to take them on a varied drive. Take them through the middle of town, so you get stop start traffic to see how you like the ride, a bit of highway so you can hear the wind noise and abit of corrigations so you can hear it creak. By this time you will such a bad impression of jeep ownership the salesman will be forced to let you take it offroad to show you why you would put up with it onroad...

yeah screw it, its your money. Take it for a drive as far as you want, if they start giving u lip then take ure custom elsewhere. I wouldn't part with so much cash without first knowing for sure if I liked something or not - they should understand that, and im sure they would like some business so if u cant get what u want now then u never will...

doubt they will let you 'off road' though, besides where?

William Simpson Nissan commissioned a 4x4 track for a fund raising event at a charity in Cape Town, with the idea that they would showcase their offroad vehicles to customers after the fund raising event on the course if they wanted to test them off road. It was a great idea but they didn't follow through with it and never used it again after the event *shrug* pity.

    Edzackery Biggles.
That is how we bought SWAMBO's Cherokee. She had the wheel, salesman was spinning his yarn as co-pilot, and me in the back (feeling like a VIP).
After the normal town driving, she took a quick dart (reeeeaaaly fast) on the high way.

I made the comment that the "thing" sounds like the space shuttle, so why the heck should we buy it. Sales dude promptly offered an off-road track.

After about the third lap, we eventually agreed on the deal.
