    Default New Jaguar Sabor Caravan

Any comments on the new Jaguar Sabor Sleepready Caravan. Price R265 000 where most sleepready caravans cost more than R400 000.

BMW.....sorry I don't like this box or Blik Met Wiele. All square with poor departure angle and ground clearance but for normal camping it would be ok but then rather buy a Jurgens or similar.

This looks very good. Its excellent value for money.

As a sidenote, when you put angles into a trailer/caravan, you compromise the practical door layouts and internal fitout. This is what I found with my Project Stealth caravan.

It's only the rear side door that's limiting the departure angle. I'd be inclined to rake or lift the door and provide some steps. That's an easy change.

Agree. That rear door just looks awkward

would agree with you, closest competition would be in the region R400k plus.
    Also sleep-in model.

Also now they won't be sued for copying a competitors unit.

Bruce, is it just me that senses a tone in your posts that joins the queue active Jaguar haters? So what if a design that seeks to address customer demand doesn't quite hit the mark on the first attempt.

As rfar as I can see that criminal piece that does not have clearance at the back is just the step in to the van behind the wheel. Not enough to mention or concern unless you plan on driving baboons pass otherwise the clearance on the back is not too bad.
One must be careful of jumping to the wrong conclusion, the photo can be a bit misleading, if you look at the height of the side compared to the side wall you can see that this is not a high caravan. You don't need fancy approach and departure angles as thi baby sits behind your SUV and poses minimal wind resistance. By the looks a great sturdy design even if it wont win any beauty contests

Critisism and now you can shoot me down

One stabiliser leg at the back, don't be cheap fit a second and up the price a bit
Cast iron boiling table...It is weak as who knows with legs breaking off at random and it is as heavy as a brick, in plain language it is f ugly. It is not 4x4 because it look butch, replace it with something lighter and esthetically more leasing.
And PLEASE where a gas pipe or wiring goes through a wall or metal jut fit a gland to stop it chaffing though, seems like this is a cape thing

@Fatbike, that monstrosity looks like na elephant thing that escaped from a starwars movie set

Not at all Heinz, does not make a difference which brand...this box to me is hideous.

Jacques is not new to van design so I think this is a poor attempt and seeing as how many different brands are out there he could really have come up with something better even at first attempt.

    Function over form

I actually like the look from the other side where there is no door. As Heinz has mentioned some changes to the door and this will not be a bad looking caravan. Interested to see how it looks in towing configuration

Just to be fair, every manufacturer design has a compromise somewhere. If it looks awesome, it may be heavy, or too long or too expensive.

Additionally, a departure angle like that really does not matter, very very few owners tow grade 3 trails with a caravan. I took an offroad caravan through the Otjitheke 4x4 trail and deep sand riverbeds in Nam and nowhere would I have needed more clearance than what is shown on the OP.

The price is right, so customer will buy if there is good quality.

I tow a teardrop/Squaredrop, it looks awesome, not too pricey, but I can't stand up in it. But it floats my boat. Click image for larger version.

Somewhere there will be folks willing to buy it even if the quality is just advertising hype. There are a lot of options on the market and many of them is more advertising than delivery.

How about some more pics of that squaredrop, it looks like a neat little maggafter.
