Default Greetings from Assagay, KZN (2014 Duster 4x4)

Hi there. My name is Slade and I'm from Assagay, Hillcrest KZN. I drive A 2014 Renault Duster 1.5 dCi Dynamique 4x4, and we've done a few trips to the Kruger, Drakensberg, and Garden Route. All AirBnB/glamping

My wife and I and another couple are currently planning a two week overlanding/camping trip through the Kruger. We are starting at Blouberg Nature Reserve, then going into Kruger through Punda Maria and coming out at Lower Sabie two weeks later, then crashing at Marloth Park for a night or two.

I'll be frequenting this forum a lot over the next few months, as we have of quite a bit of camping gear we want to research and buy for our camping trip.

    Cheers!

    Welcome!

A few points to get going on your trip:

    1. Is your accommodation booked - if so, set out your itinerary and we can chip in. If not, we can hound you with suggestions...lol.
    2. What will your camping setup be? Ground tents?
    3. How many in your car and will you be towing?

    Thanks for the messages guys.

    1. No, accommodation is not booked. We are staying in a mix of campsites and one or two safari tent sites. We are more than happy to hear all and any suggestions on which spots are the best! Currently we are looking at these option, from north to south: Punda Maria campsite, Shingwedzi campsite, Letaba safari tents, Satara campsite, and Skukuza safari tents. Maybe Tsendze as well, but open to suggestions.
    2. We will be using ground tents. Currently looking at a Coleman 6 man or instant 5 man but happy for suggestions.
    3. Two cars, two people in each car. Won't be towing. Once we're in Kruger we'll use one car as a base camp and do game drives in one vehicle.

Sorry, I only saw your reply now.

I suggest starting threads in the Limpopo and camping sections.

    My initial suggestions:

    1. Try and book at least two nights per camp. For example, pick Punda or Shingwedzi and spend two nights.
    2. I personally love Tsendze and Balule. If you can add either or both.
    3. Get booking, especially Kruger. Nights run out fast.
    4. In the South, I personally prefer Croc Bridge for camping.

But look, any of these are good.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely do that!

    1. Yes that is the idea, we wanna try do at least two nights to experience each spot and not have to live out our suitcases.
    2. Tsendze has made the list, but we are also looking at Balule
    3. I didn't realise that the campsites sold out so quickly, so will get a move on this.
    4. Will look into Crocodile Bridge, thanks!
