Default Most "Comfortable" family road vehicle?

    Hi Guys

So we are looking at getting a SUV or MPV as a general family vehicle. After my daughter's birth and two trips out I have stripped my ... and decided the mazda 3 is too small. My main requirements are comfortable seats, boot space and no/very little road noise.

    Budget is about R200k - R250k.

There are a lot of options available out there and no way im going to go and drive them all. Im not fussy about brand, but would like to stick to something that is not french.

So out of the SUVs and MPVs out there what would you reckon is the one with the most sound proof cabin and comfortable seats?

    TIA

If you go second hand, you can pick up a very nice Volvo XC60 for that price, I had one and it was a awesome car, my wife still drives Volvo and I also love it

    I would say Nissan Xtrail.

Only because I have one and it's super comfortable. I have done long distances with it and when I get out, my body doesn't feel tired.
And it's got a big boot with lots of space.

    I have a 2013 T31 diesel.

This is a great suggestion. The CX5 is a real hidden gem.

I am biased. But I thoroughly enjoy the CRV, and I have an old-ish model.

Discovery 4. You can’t beat a Discovery for comfort, boot space and insulated cabin ie. very little road noise.

I had that model CRV as well. Unbelievably comfortable car! And was excellent with taking the kids - the space in the back was very good, rear seat legroom, headroom, and packing space.

Id like to suggest a Volvo, as they are just so comfortable, but, if it were my money, id narrow my list down to a CRV or CX5.

    An older model S-Class

Taking into account reliability, economy, etc. I would say Kuga - CX5 - Duster (technically not a French car). If you are fine with a bit more risk (higher mileage and possible repair costs), a Q5.

I had a lemon of a Touareg a few years ago. Not sure a luxury German vehicle is the best choice for me

Would be an awesome vehicle, but Im not in the mood to spend R100k if something major breaks on the diesel, and the Petrol is just too heavy on fuel.

I know everybody will burst out laughing, but taking your requirements into consideration and value for money, nothing beats a Toyota Innova. Its spacious, tough as nails and rides like a dream. Only problem its a bit heavy on juice and looks are an acquired taste. But before you dismiss it outright, go drive one first.
