    Easily.
I started a 5L V8 Mustang easily 4 times without charging the unit. Could have done many more times.

Purchased the yellow ROMOSS unit from Loot. However see on the box that its suitable for up to 4l petrol or 2l diesel. Anyone used it successfully on a larger diesel like a Discovery (3l), Ranger (3.2l), Fortuner (2.8l)

Not an expert but looking at modern vehicles today that come out with small batteries, I'm sure the jump pack would kick over a bigger motor. Doubt it would kick over the old motors whose batteries were massive.

For interest - Real live test of ROMOSS unit on my Discovery 4 with the 100Ah battery reading 5 volts!

Connected fully charged ROMOSS 12000mAh unit to battery and tried to start. Nothing. No ignition lights at all.
Tried again this time using the BOOST function for about 30 seconds. Disco came alive and started, although with a bit of a sluggish turnover.
Repeated successfully three times, but always had to use BOOST function.
After three starts ROMOSS unit only showed one charge light (full charge shows 4) so three starts is about the limit.

Conclusion - it will work on larger capacity diesel vehicles fitted with large batteries. If you have one then keep it, if you are buying new and have a big diesel might be a better idea to buy a unit with more capacity such as Fluffy's.

I followed Fluffy's logic and resultant advice (Thanks!) and ordered the PowerVault 16500mAh starter unit.

2 days, collected from a Takealot outlet 3kms from my house. I was super pleased with the zip case, contents and quality. It should actually be on the Tool Drool thread.

The reason why this unit made more sense to me, even though it was R1000 more expensive than the 12000 model - dang!, I could have bought a yellow one, same physical size, but a battery capacity of 50600mAh for even less - was the 19V output.

Checking reader reviews prior to ordering, a happy customer accepted the fact that among the laptop power adapters, his specific HP power interface was missing.

He did not lie. Although there is a blue tip adapter, it is NOT the HP/Lenovo 4.5/3mm pin-in-the-centre blue tip. Why some okes just HAVE to be different..... Maybe that's the Chinese way to spite America for the Huawei Android issue?

Anyway, researching and visiting shops to buy one - yes, I have that HP - I learnt that there are 34 different interfaces - of which you get 8.

Loose adapters were not available over the counter and I was not paying another R600 to buy a complete PSU to cut off the connector and adapt it for Powervault use.

However, just before I became grumpy, I found this one on Takelot:

    Name: Screenshot_20210723-142837_Chrome.jpg
Views: 153
Size: 219.2 KB

Which I ordered Friday pm and collected Sunday just before closing time.

What a bargain! 90W output instead of the HP 45W. And it fits AND works. Some of the adapters I could order online almost cost the same.

The power lead is seperable from the PSU. As it should be, nÍ? Well, HP does not know this. Theirs come with this muhrse draad with a block in the middle. What were they thinking?

Anyway, so I am going to cut up the HP charger and adapt the flylead to be either connected to the PowerVault or back to the HP charger. Win-win: spare PSU and now also seperable from the cable.

Right, so those of you with a recent 2-in-1 HP/Lenovo laptop which still charges via a jack: you too can now buy the larger PowerVault with confidence!

Or that yellow or even lime green one. They're all made in China.

The reviewer thought the yellow one was better than the green as it was heavier. I weighed the one above, and even though it was only one third the capacity, it was slightly heavier than the yellow one. Must be a very thick plastic case?

Even more amazing is that whilst propelling the average family car, it also charges the battery!

I noticed the Powervault is on special
    https://www.powerall.co.za/product/1...-jump-starter/

R 2098 with shipping (I guess shipping was included before on special), still cheaper as on takealot.

    Thanks Fluffy for the link!

That is a very good price, and almost sounds too good to be true. Discounted by R650?

I bought from Takealot because Powervault, on their website, advertizes they now sell via that channel, with a button stating Buy Here, which takes you there.

The best price I saw last week was R2500 at 4x4 Megaworld, but we were in day 4 of the Pta East power calamity and I needed it yesterday. So 2 day delivery was as good as I could get.

I wonder if Powerall has the same delivery period?

I was battling to set up a cost effective way of UPS for my fibre modem and router. The lead cell batteries on a 2000VA computer UPS would only last a few months. Then my brother said that he just plugged his modem into the Romos 12000mAh device, which has a 12V out. This worked wonderful and ran through several cycles of load shedding. But with me away from home for several weeks at a time I left it plugged in, which didn't work. It just lost its charge and eventually stopped feeding 12V out. I then found a Lithium ion battery UPS device that is actually designed for that purpose, which works wonders! I'll definitely buy the Romos device again, what a beautifully packaged and well though through device!

Thanks, SD for clearing that up!

I had to edit my original draft text to exclude my suspicions at the time of posting. You know, something along the lines of: Wat djy waaaa kry?!!

Because, surely, discredit should not be given where discredit is not due?

Probably they were hacked, but I tried two browsers, and two programs picked the Trojan up, ESET on Firefox, and Malwarebyte on Chrome Browser.

    Hi,

Thanks for letting us know, yes it is all legit.
our product service is as good as our product, We are a small business, PowerVault has been sold locally for 6 years. You have my personal guarantee that it is a top quality product, built to my specifications.

@admin, apologies if I am breaking rules, but I needed to update the members.

Top tip: Ensure you discharge and recharge your PowerVault periodically to maintain optimal battery health, just charge a phone or three.

PowerVault will keep a charge for over 3 months up to 6 months, but donít forget about it, I use mine constantly when our and about personally.

Interesting fact: I have a PowerVault from 2016 that still works perfectly.

    Thanks Colin.

If you have any input into it, see if one of the adapters supplied could be swopped out for the HP/Lenovo one. This would expand the versatility of the unit considerably.

We are actually very limited in SA as to what is required i.t.o. laptops.

HP, Lenovo, Dell, Apple, Acer, Mecer. What else?

Still, at that discounted price, you can't steal it .
