So this is a new airline the way I understand it. I.e. SAA 2.0. They still need to liquidate or do something other with SAA 1.0.

With version 1.0 there is still plenty of debt to settle, pilots have still not been paid etc.. 2.0 must at this point be an empty shell, which is probably better for it's own sake, i.e. a clean slate. Interesting how that can be done under the exact same name. Do they even have a license to operate yet?

1.0 cannot get theirs sorted from what I understand as they don't meet CAA regs and it cannot just be slipped through the system as all eyes are on them since the Brussels and Alpha Floor incident.

The majority is a privately owned consortium.

The state will be liable for the debt.

So both elements are covered by the transaction.

From his place of not-seen-for-months, he announces that SAA has been bough, but he does not tell you that they allowed ANC members to buy it using State held Pension fund monies.
As Uys says. Just another angle.

The moment they said 100% black owned I smelled a rat because that is just another way of saying PPIC funded.

This means that twice this week a ministers was "by passed", first Gwede on the 100 MW and now Tito which PPIC falls under and who is not very pro SAA.

I however think that if this succeeds in this court, it would be taken op appeal till they hopefully lose in the Constitutional Court.

Will take time but then people can take this court case and take all the municipalities to town!

Same cookie jar , new label. This time they will use Government Employees Pension Fund to prep
the airline. All smoke and mirrors...Government will still have control,49% + PIC share in Harrith.

What did they actually buy? Their long haul fleet consists now of the A340s which nobody wanted. One of Airbus’s biggest flops. On the flip side probably a buyers/lessors market for ac right now.

... but are consortium shouldering downside risk ?
... intuitively think SA taxpayers money used to underwrite / finance / guarantee the deal
and operation on ongoing basis etc ...

Will state ensure a more complete ongoing monopoly by screening out any competition ?
