Default Weber Baby Q has weak flame

I picked this up from a lady down the road for a steal, used twice.
The flame though seems dismal, this is it on full blast.

I am connecting it to a 9kg cylinder. It is screwed directly into the cylinder, no regulator on the cylinder side, into the canister regulator that comes with the Weber.
Either it is meant to burn with a low flame intensity, the gas is poor quality, or it is the regulator.

Try screwing a cannister on and compare the flame.

Let it run for a bit. Perhaps there's some dirt or something in the regulator or burner.

Seems to be a common issue on these as I have the same problem. I have replaced the regulators on both the bottle and the Weber knob. I even drilled every single little hole slightly bigger.
Connected it to my air compressors to see where the obstruction is - still no joy

The lady I bought it from was in her 80s and her daughter bought it for her as a gift but she just doesn't braai by herself I guess as she only used it twice ...
I am 100% confident it is not a dud product that they flipped.

Also not many moving parts to it, so either it is meant to be like this, or it is the regulator. It is not necessarily a problem either as it still gets hot,

It still gets hot, maybe this is how they are meant to work with lid closed cooking and low heat. i just thought on full blast i would get a raging flame, even if i had to turn it way down to cook with.

    Hi

That is a perfectly normal flame for a healthy, clean babyQ

Just give it about 15 to 20 minutes to warm up and Q is your baby!

    Mine is indispensable.

You should get around 250C with the lid closed after 10mins at full power.

Mine takes about 15 minutes for that, depending on ambient temp

Assuming you use biggish gas bottles, not the uneconomical cannisters, the fix to the fix to my similar problem was simple.

Remove the heat adjustment part and then remove the jet. Get a drill bit minutely bigger than the jet hole. Clean the hole out with this bit, leaving a jet hole minutely bigger than standard. Make sure the innards of this adjustment component is spotlessly clean, re-assemble and see the difference. I had the same problem and after numerous different efforts this solved the problem. It now works much better than new.
