    Default Fortuner V6 mileage

    Hello all,
I have always looked at the 4x4 community page to refrence various Toyota related articles over the years. Today I decided to join the group and kicking off with my first post.

So, I have a 2011 preface lift 4LV6 Fortuner. Current mileage 281k costs: normal servicing and x 2 batteries. I need to spend another +- 30 k in the next few months on, tyres, servicing and am considering doing the auto transmission oil flush and trans oil replace.

I am at the point of deciding to either keep her or buy another. My budget is a little limited to a max of 350k
I would not buy a 2.5 after the v6 which has treated me well the 7.5km/l doesn't bother me as I have power and not willing to substitute for less oomph.

Do I sell, or do I buy, what do I buy?
I have an itch and dying to scratch.

I'd buy another 4l in a heart beat.. But where are they?

    Hi Aiden. Welcome.

I suggest you repeat your request under the Toyota section. It will get more exposure there.

You are asking a very complex question to which you have the most information to actually answer it.

One factor I have not seen discussed before relating to mileage is remoteness and cost of breakdown.

Where I live it is too remote to risk getting a breakdown as I would have to tow the vehicle vast distances to get it either home or to a dealer and that will cost money and very importantly , time.
So I don't want to take vehicle mileage too high. If I lived near or in a town I would allow mileage to go higher.

Unless you are going to trade it in for a newer shape I would keep it (not sure if 350k will get you a nice GD shape v6). If you buy 2nd hand you will probably anyways need to spend some money in the first year if you want a near perfect vehicle.

Get the auto trans service done and if you haven't, then replace the water pump (especially if it has not always had the correct coolant mixture in the system). Next to go will probably be the front crankshaft seal (around R350 if I remember correctly) if it is not leaking already. Other than that they seem to go to much higher mileage than your current one.

If you want someone reliable and passionate to service and carry out repairs on it then go give Jacques Norval from Mitsu Care a visit. He is in Brackenfell. He is a Mitsu specialist but on any day there are probably just as many Toyota's there. He also looks after the V6 Hilux in our off road group. Maybe take it to him, have him do a health report and then make a final decision.

    Cheers

That's great information and I appreciate the exta list to look out for and will include if I decide to keep her thank you. The mechanic I use is George from Auto Azzuri. But will keep Jacques details close at hand.
