Default Brass flat bar - Brits/Harties

I need a small piece (±60x60x3mm) brass flat bar but cannot find any out our way.
Does anyone know where I could try in the Harties/Brits area?
    Thanks.

PRA - off-hand, I cannot think of anyplace that will stock that in Brits or Harties. That said, I would probably be able to get this in Pretoria, and I will be in the area on Friday to collect my kids for the weekend. Let me know.

    Hi Peter,

Not close to you, but I have this piece of brass that you can have if you'd like.
    But it's 2mm not 3mm

Try Non-Ferous Metals in Pta-West, perhaps they have offcuts?

    Thanks everyone for the comments/suggestions.
Did not think getting hold of a brass off cut would be this difficult.

Thanks Ian - if you are able and do manage to get a piece i'd really appreciate it.
If you do just let me know where and when and I'll be there (oh ate 2 four51 five927).
I'm on the west side of Hartbeespoort Dam near the bridge that crosses the dam (not the bridge at the wall).

Thanks Gary - being helpful as usual .
I'm certain that would also do the job, but a bit far, as you say.
I would like to take you up on your offer when I next pass you way.

    Thank you very much.
As an aside, I enjoyed doing the oh ate 2 four51 five927 thing.
I see people doing that but don't know why.
    Anyone know?

    Hi Ian,
60mm flat bar 60mm long will be fine, even 50mm x 60mm would work.
It's not necessary to be ex-sheet.
Either will work equally well, thanks.

Right. I don't have good news. I pinged a few suppliers via mail as I am a bit desk-bound at the moment.

I mentioned sizes etc. and that it was for a hobby project - ie: not a large purchase...Their response is as follows:

    Hi

    We can offer

    Brass plate
    2000 x 1000 x 2mm
    R9360.00 exl vat

So, unless you can track down a cheaper supplier here in Pretoria that I can collect and bring with, I presume you will have to see if Graham can help when he goes through to Randburg.

    Thanks for trying Ian.
I'll try Gary's brass offering that Graham will kindly collect for me. If that does not work out I'll track down a supplier.
Amazing that it's so hard to find a small piece of brass.

    Thanks again.

No worries. If you do find a supplier in Pretoria, I can always bring it with me when I'm in the area again (at least every second week). If I had time at the moment, I would have taken a drive out to some of the scrap places to see if I could find anything, but I'm desk-bound at the moment, and the first opportunity I will have is Saturday.

You'll be able to get small pieces from MetalCentre in Selby, but yes not anywhere close to Harties.
Atleast that's where I get all my stuff. But again I haven't been there in quite some time and the last time I was there they told me with covid they battling to get stock of certain items.
