Why not pay extra and do a led conversion with Glo Tech. The standard lights on my Ranger were a real let down, but after the conversion I'm really happy.

    Hi Willem,

    Very interesting.

Which year model is your Ranger?
I know with some we had some compatibility issues with our LED bulbs.

Has any one tried the "superbright" no brand name 100W bulbs from Autostyle? R150 for a pair seems cheap.

    Thanks for all replies.

I have read before about Osram sometimes lasting years, and other times lasting months.

I could do a HID conversion, which is what I did to my Hella spots, but I also don't want to be that guy who blinds people with there normal driving lights.

My current ones are Hella Daymakers, and I am not impressed. I recently failed my driver's without glasses, and at night I find it the worst, so good lights are essential.

    I might try the Phillips.

If space is an issue, look for the 1st gen "ultinon Essential" Philips LED, instead of a big heatsink/fan setup it has flexible ribbons to do the job of the heatsink, easily bent to fit limited space, Philips part number is 11342UE or 05117321 if memory serves.

The 2nd gen ultinon essential and XtremeUltinon are the ones with the big heatsink on the back. , all work well I just prefer the older design. For what its worth Autostyle used to have them and they should still be able to get

    Original globes last for years.

Night breakers globes never seemed to make it past a few months.
I only had this problem with the very first ones, the later models are very reliable.

Extreme lights, I had a Puma, terrible headlights, tried all the none LED options, got better but not brilliant. Bought set of H4 replacements from EL. Solved the issue. Used for 7 years and still going strong. Fitted a set to my LC200 main beams, dips are HID, cannot emphasise enough the improvement Daylight (5500K) LEDs give driving 4-6 hours in the dark.
    best wishes

    Hi

    Im using these.

Its the best out of every HID, Halogen and every LED Ive tried.
Best cut off line, least dark spots, widest spread, and the brightest.
Lots of kits say 50W, but if you read the small print, its actually 25W for each light...

I ordered a set of Osram Night Breakers.

The LED look epic, but the price is a little high for me right now.

Maybe after my trip I will look into upgrading.

The Osram Night Breakers are perfect. Drove around this evening during load shedding, what a great improvement, I don't need more than this.

    Thanks for the recommendations.

Those older Prado's still had H4 bulbs as far as I know. Later models they split the dim and bright into separate bulbs.

I will send you a DM
