We had fun with these as a kid. If you make a small slit near to one edge and insert a scissors and cut following the edge, it forms rings, like a chain, which drop off the original strip.

It's great fun crocheting mobius strips. They can be used as scarves.

If we look at the evidence of massive erosion on mars, it could only have been caused by water. As a result of Mars' unique geography, one half of Mars is lower than the other half, so it is believed that it had an ocean covering one half and that ocean was between 3 and 4 km deep on average.

So why did mars lose its water? It's core stopped spinning and it lost its magnetic field. Once this happens, it has no protection from solar rays, and these then strips away its atmosphere. Once the atmospheric pressure drops to a certain level, all the water evaporates, and there you have it, a waterless planet. It is also believed that while it had an atmosphere which would have included clouds etc, it would have been a lot warmer on Mars. So yes, it is believed that life could have flourished on Mars.

During the first Mars landings, the drone carried our several tests for life. One of them came back positive for life. The result was rejected by NASA on the basis that it did not match the tests from the other experiments. The thing is though, that the experiment that came back positive, was designed in such a way that it was about a 100 times more sensitive than the next experiment. So this means that we could well already have evidence of life on Mars.

I firmly believe that that experiment was valid, and that microscopic life survived on Mars.

I won't be surprised, sounds like a human thing to do.

    Possible but highly unlikely.

It will probably make its way to Africa, look around and say "f#*k this sh1t" while it leaves earth for good.

Will watch this later on TV (Cast from PC).
I am amazed and very happy with the responses to and comments on the thread I created.
Thank you ALL for your contributions, comments, thoughts and philosophies, theories, etc. etc.
Exactly the kind of discussions that I like to have around a fire in the bush somewhere after an (undisclosed) number of beers ... the mind is open and anything is possible, and some amazing ideas come to light.
Unfortunately some are not remembered the next day.
However these kind of discussions are (for me) enlightening.
Insanity may come later .... n
Thanks all for the contributions thus far.

THIS is a real possibility and quite likely in my opinion, and may well ultimately prove to be so.
However it does not address the actual and greater question, or does it ?

No, I think there is just sooooo much more that we still need to learn, know and hopefully at some point, actually understand.

Happy to agree with the "stuffed it up part", but not the "relocation to earth". If there was a civilisation sophisticated enough to get inhabitants ( I deliberately do NOT use the word "people") to earth, there would have been traces left on Mars.

    Yes I do agree.
If there had been intelligent life on Mars or the moon or anywhere else for that matter, one would expect some signs of it.
Left over bits of non-natural materials, pieces of once massive structures, evidence of things like dams - huge projects.
However, should this all have been under the surface of the planet due to a sub-terrain civilization maybe (?) - then possibly still to be discovered.
    Just a thought.
It would be interesting to see what is found in the oceans of frozen (surface) moons such as around Jupiter etc.
    Think: Dolphins.
Sentient, intelligent beings do not need to be humanoid and could well be fish or ANY other life form.
How can we be so arrogant as to assume that all intelligent life walks, talks, has two arms and legs etc. etc. etc.?
So, that should open a new can of worms ........

If one considers that earthly civilisation is barely 9000 years old, and that early evidence of that already needs extensive excavation, why could older civilisations not have simply vanished?
