There are at least THREE places you can get ACCREDITED PCR tests in Livingstone

Apparently now one has to register in advance for PCR test... But as of yet this is not checked at airport or border

    Places to go..

MoH offices... Behind Shoprite Mall, across the railway line (we had ours done there, 24 hour turnaround, Kwatcha ZMW1,000... Need to pay at the Zanaco bank kiosk beforehand, and present your deposit slip)

Medprof... Muswili Street... A lady Russian Dr. Shaknosa. Very professional and accredited... expensive.. ZMW2,300

SES clinic... Near the Croc farm on the way to the falls. Very professional, run by a couple of SA medics, and a great place to go for any minor emergencies... ZMW1,950

    Hope this helps

    Hi everyone.

I will travel in November with my wife in a rented hilux from Johannesburg to Botswana and after visiting several national parks we wanted to go from Kasane to Livingstone to spend a day seeing the Victoria Falls. Then return to Kazangula to enter Namibia and continue our journey.

We are vaccinated. With a PCR test done in Kasane, would it be enough to enter Zambia from Botswana (Kazangula border), spend a day in Livingstone and return to Kazangula to go to Namibia?

    Thanks for your help

Yes. But for a day trip to Zambia it doesnot make sense to undergo the expensive car crossborder clearance. Rather have taxi from Kasane to Zam side of the bridge (do not pay more than P40) and arrange taxi from there to Livingstone. I negotiated K600 return trip. I can send you a contact of my reliable taxi driver.

Greetings... I have used Andy for the last three years. Extremely reliable, on time and safe, clean van with AC.

+260977354130... You are welcome to use my name as reference... Barnard.

Reasonably priced accommodation in LVI would be Fawlty Towers backpackers, basic but clean and reasonably priced (I will use both services when I go in November again)

Patrick +26097 4715465. K30 short hop within town. K80 Zam/Zim border to LVI center (Cafe Zambezi). K100 Zam/Zim border to LVI suburb (White Rose Lodge). K150 White Rose-LVI airport. Do not pay more, try negotiate for small car. He has big van for 9 people as well as small cars. Remember zambian taxi drivers do not pay Kazungula Bridge fee for pick-up Zambia side and drop-off Botswana side and vice versa. Kazungula Bridge is open till 20:00 now (soon up to 24:00, but they do not have the staff yet) , so you can manage to do Chobe Sunset Cruise 15-18:00 and still have plenty of time to return to Zambia.

What would be the approximate price from Livingston to the Kazangula Bridge?

I negotiated K600 return with Patrick. No need to walk over the bridge, but he will probably try to argue like that. Tell him you know that taxidrivers do not pay the bridge fee for drop off/pick up. Going out of Zambia the one-stop immigration is on Botswana side. Going out of Botswana the immigration is on Zambian side. So zambian taxidrivers can drop-off on Bots side, but pick-up on Zam side without fee. Botswanian ones vice versa.

If you are alone or 2 there are shared minivans from Livingstone too. No idea about the price. I can check it for you.

I needed a pcr test for border. This was end of September.

Very first I drove to SES clinic. They don't do anymore covid test.

I was told there at SES clinic that only two places do covid swab tests in Livigstone.

    1. Public hospital.Swabs test done 08:00 -12:00 only.
    2. Medprof 24/7.

I choose Medprof.Price 2000 Kwacha.I got my test result on paper just under two hours...

Just returned from Zambia and got tests done at Medprof [Saturday afternoon] with results sent through within a few hours. Price is now 1,600 Kwacha and although they had a machine they couldn't work it so I had to go down the road to an ATM to get cash - but they did the tests before we went for the cash.

Default New measures in response to Omicron

    HIGHLIGHTS | COVID-19 MEASURES, 28 NOV 2021:
In order to address the threat of the new variant Omicron and to prevent the advent of a possible eminent fourth wave, Government has taken the following public health measures that will come into effect on Tuesday, 30th November 2021:

    1. Surveillance at all points of entry will be heightened. Both testing for sars-cov-2 and vaccination will be conducted. These are airports, road border ports, sea entry points and illegal entry points

    2. All travellers coming from high-risk countries will be quarantined for 10 days in designated places, at own cost

    3. Local authorities and the police service to continue inspection of all public places for adherence to public health measures for covid-19 control; they will also ensure that the public places are fumigated frequently

    4. Public transport operators must ensure masking up, hand sanitizing and physical distancing by restricting the number of passengers in respect of the bus size; operators to regularly sanitize their buses

    5. Markets and bus stations not to allow anyone in the markets or bus stations without wearing a mask. All the marketeers and shop owners are expected to wear masks and provide sanitation facilities at all times

    6. Members of the public shall not be allowed into public places without masks

    7. It will be a requirement for all persons to provide evidence of vaccination before entry into government buildings.

    8. It will be a requirement for Civil and public servants to be vaccinated for them to be admitted at work. This shall be done in consultation with the unions.

    9. Churches to only meet three times a week for an hour at each session

    10. Funerals to have not more than 50 mourners. Wedding gatherings to also be restricted to not more than 50 people, subjected to approval by health authorities

    11. All bars, taverns, restaurants, night clubs, cinemas, casinos and stadia should ensure adherence to public health measures such as wearing masks at all times, regular hand washing/sanitizing and physical distancing. Bars operating hours restricted to 18-20hrs, 4 times a week.

    12. Government will Roll out and upscale national wide vaccination for 2 million people by Christmas 2021 using areas of mass gatherings (markets, shopping malls, sports stadia etc).

    Hi Ozranger,
thanks a lot for the information which is hard to obtain in our country!
As Zambia will quarantine people from "High Risk Countries" I think there has to exist a list which countries are on high risk for Zambia approximately not the same as for Germany. We are following the devellopment constantly as we want to ship our Defender to Walvis Bay in March and store it in Lusaka after 6 weeks.
