    Default Zimbabwe - Hwange & Mana - from Johannesburg - 2021

    Hi guys,
We had to postpone our trip from last year and it has now been rebooked with Zimparks for August this year. We had planned to travel from JHB via Bots (crossing at Martin's Drift), then to Hwange via Pandamatenga. Does anyone have any information on the viability of this trip given the COVID situation? I thought that the borders were open providing you had a valid COVID test, but have seen a post here stating that Zim borders are not open for tourist traffic. Does anyone have any up-to-date information? Predictions will also be helpful!
    Thanks,
    Alexa

Borders are still closed for tourism traffic and with the Covid season only starting it is not going to open anytime soon.

For the reasons Tom stated I would postpone. Only fly-in tourists allowed into Zim at the moment.

I would still wait until end of June if I would be you.
But don't bet that they ever reopen Pandamatenga....

Ja, wait to see if Zimbabwe does open its borders in time, they are vaccinating quite rapidly, Chinese vaccine. We are in much the same position and may need to postpone for yet another year.

The earliest info is likely to be posted on the Facebook group. If not a Facebook member join it and then join the group.

As Stan mentioned above join the Drive Zim Facebook group. We are also going to Zim in August (Gonarezhou NP) have a booking. We have postponed from 8 May 2020 a few times and now August 2021 and they said this is the last, if we do not honer the booking we will loose it. On the Facebook group I read that you could apply to Department tourism (I think) for a letter. You must have a booking and they then give you a letter to enter as tourist. We will wait until July to see what the rules are then.

We are also waiting in hope that the situation will change. We were also advised that if we do not take up the postponed bookings we made for last year before the end of 2021 we will forfeit the payment made.
