My wife and I just spent 2 months crossing the DRC by public transport. For those who are interested in what the Congo is like at the moment, here's our blog:

Thank you so much Dave. What a fantastic account of a really intrepid journey through the DRC on public transport. This in the face of Covid too. I must come and visit you people at Mbulungulu, (on the Wild Coast), just "down the road from us" in East London. Many years ago we used to camp there.
To potential readers, perhaps begin reading with the Zambian and African section of the blog. I particularly enjoyed the blog's very realistic and down to earth approach to the difficulties and circumstances.
A HIGHLY RECCOMENDED read! Waiting for the further episodes.

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Please keep writing more about your intrepid journey. You write so well.
Asante sana.
Really fantastic, thank you so much for sharing. That is some proper traveling! There are so few reports from the DRC, it is great to see yours, and I really appreciate your observations on culture, potential, and how life works in the remote places you have visited. I also loved the boat trip in Zambia, a good adventure.
Also very interesting to hear and contemplate the covid-19 precautions or attitudes you encountered. There aren't many travelers posting reports (I suppose because there aren't many travelers right now), but I have been pretty surprised that of the few that are posting videos or reports there has been ZERO observations on covid. Such a unique time to be traveling it almost seems like there is a responsibility to record what you see (not trying to add work for you!). I very much liked this column by Paul Theroux on observing such times: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/30/t...smid=url-share
Thanks again, good luck on your travels!

Excellent! Thanks for posting.
Lots of reminders of my two years in the (Republic of) Congo - quite different in many ways, but so many similarities!
Simply, thank you for sharing such a wonderful and brave journey. Eagerly waiting for the future installments of your African moves.
Please do keep safe.
