    Default Tiger fishing recommendations

Hi All,as the topic says,I want to go tiger fishing, and preferable on fly, and I am busy doing sme research. Can anyone recommend the best time of the year, and perhaps a guide that can be used.I am looking at the following options, Komati river or Jozini.Last time I fished for tigers as about 15 years ago, but want to do one now with my 14 year old, as he is also getting into flyfishing quite nicely (he out fished me in Dec)ThanksRenier

There are quite a few operators/guides/charters at Pongolapoort Dam.

Maybe check out their reviews on Google and YouTube.

There are also more fishing orientated forums that might give some insight/recommendations.

The warmer seasons are generally better.

Iíve heard that the fishing below the Jozini dam wall is fantastic, look at that as an option.

We have our annual Tiger fishing comp coming up in August. Typically about 150 Anglers.

At Jozini ( AKA Pongolapoort ) the general consensus is the months with a R in the name, with the hotter the better.

Hennie, Iím not sure to be honest. I see there are 50 species found in the river, but for me tigers would be the main attraction. Youíd probably have much better yellow fishing elsewhere.

I've fished around Komatiepoort, but the guide moved on. I believe tiger fishing memories are the go-to guides in the area now.
We had some great top water action there!

However, it still doesn't come close to a Zambezi trip. Sekoma is a great option. I've done June, which was great. Also did Oct, but the wind was too much to even throw a fly.
