Default Ssangyong Korando D20t PDF blocked

I am hoping for some help please. My FIL has a Korando (2nd Gen) diesel (D20t so I assume 2.0?), recently they have encountered a flashing engine light. I investigated on Sunday and from what I can tell the DPF is blocked. I advised them to do the regen process which according to the manual is 15-20 minutes of driving above 50Km/h. They took the car for a drive on the highway (Centurion to Benoni) to achieve this but seems things have now gotten worse. Initial quotes has come in at R80k + for new DPF (and possibly CAT), naturally this isn't really an option on a car that is only worth a hair more. Car is currently in limp mode (as expected).

I am assuming that one should be able to cut out DPF and CAT and remap at a fraction of the cost. Has anyone done so yet? Is there a specialist in Centurion that can help?

    Thanks!

Quick update, NoiseBoys in Centurion can do deVAT and FPF delete with coding out both tor R6500. Unfortunately I have had a pretty bad experience with them in the past so don't think I would go that route.

My FIL also found a place that can clean the DPF by adding something to the fuel and the connecting diagnostic machine while running the car for a period. Sounds similar to the manual regen process for Audi and VW so this may be a good option. Just not sure about the fuel additive. Cost for this option is R1500. Not sure if it comes with some form of guarantee.

I would approach diesel shops for a DPF delete. This can be done by installing a "chip" or remapping the ECU if possible.

I don't know anyone to refer you to, but I would start with any workshop that does dyno tuning and are agents for the popular brands like Dastek. They should know what to do.

A plain remap can cost anywhere from R1500 to around R6000, depending on the ECU model.
