    Location: " Die Drift " , Knysna.

Turnoff to this location in on the , Phantom Pass, road.

Free access to public, braai fires allowed , fishing allowed , great for small kids with shallow swimming spots. Unfortunately no overnight camping.

"Platkare", reach this spot ,with only one badly 10 meter rutted spot that requires care.

    Peaceful and beautiful.

Please post picnic spot recommendations for hidden gems in your area.

We try to frequent this gem whenever we can. Only accessible with a 4x4. No rowdy crowds with loud music and leaving Heineken bottles all over. Pristine beach.

Rietvlei Nature reserve at the Marais Dam picnic site. There is a nice birdhide as well for the birders. I have not been there recently but was always a very nice spot for a picnic

The one I have, I will not share on a public forum.

Too many places I knew of have turned into a dump, once word gets out..

Crumbs, this got me thinking. The First Wife and I used to picnic often and then we seemed to have stopped some years back and for the life of me I cant think why.

The locations changed depending on the age of the fruit of my loins and we seem to have gravitated to Trout farms and dams in the last 15 years or so. Time to rethink this again.

Nice thread, I am sure some great spots will be posted

    I understand completely.

My motive is to share beautiful , less known picnic spots and experience more of the same in other locations from members contributions on this thread.

Is this that spot through the forest near the mine in the RB area? I can't remember the name of it now.
