Default LR Valuations by credit bureaux and other magic card tricks

    Greetings All

I would appreciate it very much if someone could kindly assist me on getting an Actual and fair valuation on a 1995 Landrover Defender County 110 v8 . I ve no idea beyond what i m told by the other party and my eyebrow raises and stays squished up. hell i ve not seen a current daily use 25 yr defender v8
I regret to inform my fellow Defender V8 enthusiasts that after 25 years and just under 440km my beloved treasure my semi reliable but horrendously expensive glutton of a v8 met her very tragic and undignified end . Current status : waiting in salvage yard awaiting settlement and or stripping or transfer.

Once I believed that short term insurance was a pain free way used to restore oneself to the position one was prior to the claim event. no better no worse . And if comprehensive was too expensive then one may buy 3rd party liability . Insurance companies have been on dstv building their coffers off covid and to this end various smoke and mirrors conjure up epic dog and pony shows . you know perfectly well those companies Most are on the barrel bottom rungs actually .
Many could care less about clients they dont want to pay out well nobody does but they want to pay the bare minimum they can get away with - put their head on a block they will run. Or stall. Or ignore you and play pass your emails from the parking basement to the boardroom to the coeaners and round and roubd again . They are not in any hurry .
A caveat - this covers most short term insurers the ambulance chasers ( or hearse chasers) and they use catchy mostly meaningless- slogans you know—money . They dangle virtual sacks of money in front of your nose not carrots they ll send you airtime free airtime and sacks of groceries cause they feel sorry for your plight and they care . Cause your important and they are there for YOU. Oh wait thats for cashcow covid sell sell sell
look ma free airtime and a fricge full of food — but the principle is the same - YoU get something out - exhorts another. I wonder what? A wasted morning a hard chair and a cup of stagnant coffee from the waiting area of the glass place that molests your vehicle with cameras ? Of course i speak of some
insurers but not every company. This i know because i have had epic battles with insurers in the past . Moving on…this time I had no idea i was even insured beyond third party liablity but on reading the policy i discovered that it was in fact comprehensively insured and NOT for trade value but retail or market value. Hell yes. Clever Clever broker . I phoned him during his golf time . I could have Kissed him. The vehicle was roadworthy and licensed at the time of its demise. It ran perfect . It was all original parts and serviced Every year
Miraculously nobody was injured - and i mean not even a scratch. Internally is different story. Im a mess i cant -just cant explain . Devastated is an understatement. Im still in shock. If you have Landrover bits in your RNA / DNA it will be microscopically visible -in your blood . Those with the v8 bog standard buick block will know what i m dribbling on about . The clinical definition of insanity is one repeating the same actions over and over expecting a different outcome . Most of us throw heaps of cash at our defenders far be it from we are rich. Some are. Many not. Im just plain bare assed Skint and thats because i havent seen. A hummer in yonks , anyway we got to mour defenders runnin Purring . And we shrug at the invoice usually after a rapid painful sucking in of breath … we not going faster we just want to keep her happy. To be kept happy is important because our rates of breakdowns slow and parts dont snap just yet . But they will someday just not today - #### comes in threes you ll notice … Yes we are cooked beyond insane. . Its in our blood . But we could not experience life without our defenders . What is soul destroying is hiring a datsun.a golf or any plastic car these days that your kid insists you park a whole damn block away from school i m serious. Yet you drive an earth shaking rumbling v8 with 25 year old original paint right to the school and its kewl . Shes popular. Seriously wtf

i m trying to settle the claim and have interim been offered a setttlement for salvage amount by a third non affiliated party which equates to what the insurance currently offer me . but then i lose salvage rights to them . If i want those and hell yes i do i ll be lucky to walk away with sub 12k in my pocket.
it just doesn't add up or i m plain

b ut the vehicle assessment report was submitted -by my reckoning by -someone who is not a Landrover expert and the insurers state they use Transunion as their valuation bible . Just how accurate is it ?
So by the time these bargain insurers have deducted something like two hundred and fifty hundred / thousand penalty rands they open the till and scrape out a ridiculous Amount just shy of thirty four k and hey send us the title

i ve not seen a Rover 25 yr old LR 3.5 liter v8 fuel pig. Registered SA and in use as daily driver for under under 90k with all the extras and inknow tgese do not affect the value but how the heck does transunion gettys oricd if 34/37 retail ?
What choices or tactics.can i engage to realise a better outcome that will hopefully see me back in a Defender?
    feel free to pm me
i m needing all the help i can get against this company with which i ve crossed swords with before and eventually won six months later but motorcycles and 4x4 are very different species .

When we insured a 1997 110 TDI we purchased recently, Tuff Stuff stated the insurance book value as R 30,000. They just asked for a bill of sale - insured for R 150,000.

interesting. I get the impression that the 4x4 insurance valuation industry is run by fools powered by long redundant mechanisms
so begs the question whats a guy to do?
take 27k and salvage rights and part it out or just take 32k no salvage and be done with it, .
