I am keen to try and gather some data on Jeep Grand Cherokee ownership experiences form the forum. It would be interesting to see what the general ownership experience has been like. Let me kick it off with my own data.

    Model: 2001 WJ 4.7 V8
    Ownership period: 5 years
Mileage done: 25k km 160k km to 185k km
Major repairs: dropped valve stem seat +- R6k

Got it done via Bulli, it has been some years and I did stripping myself so pricing could be quite a bit higher for the full job.

    Model: 2015 WK2 3.0 CRD V6

    Ownership period: 2.5 Years

    Mileage done: 36k km : 73k - 109k km

Major repairs: Radiator cap for temp issue...

Fuel consumption: Best 10l/100km worst 14.5l/100km

Dealerships: I don't trust them at all after a visit for the 100 000km service the temp issue started(replaced radiator cap all sorted),
Pollen/ac filter not replaced and who knows what else...

    Potential issues:
Shocks almost needs replacing, air suspension might become an issue...
The black smoke from puling a way is starting to bother me since its staining the rear bumper...
Might take it to a tuner and get it tuned, dyno, freeflow and de-cat... or sell it...

    Verdict:
    Excellent vehicle
    Very capable off road
Extremely comfortable long roads especially the adaptive cruise control
    A bit heavy on fuel
    Also love the vehicle

Seems that a previous owner of mine was a water top upper, and seems that he used boorgat water... Bulli is sorting it out, at least proactive after I pinched the water hoses recently and felt solids inside. Also replacing the front disks, going for Powerbrake option so I'm keen to experience that, plus the ac condenser that started to develop a leak. Looking forward to collect my TLC'd Jeep tomorrow!

    Ownership period: 7 years

    Mileage done: 59000 km (93 k km to 152 k km)

Major repairs: New radiator, Head Gasket, Gearbox rebuild. Lot's of other wear and tear items over the years

Fuel consumption: Best 11.2l/100 worst WHO CARES

Verdict: Comfortable vehicle that suits my current needs perfectly. Great for weekends / holidays with enough packing space for the family. We do go off road when visiting my parents (twice or more per year). Even stock the Jeep the Jeep does well off road. Will replace the shocks with Billstein and some new coils when the current shocks are done. Don't plan to add a lift, just better quality suspension all round. Plan to keep this vehicle till it dies.

    Ownership period: 2017 - Current

Mileage done: 33000 km (107k km to 140k km)

    Major repairs:
-Front Springs, Shocks replaced(2018). Vehicle sagged when I purchased it, took a year to finally decide to replace. Thicker coil springs made up by contact in Middelburg. Very stable on the road since.
-Fuel line to the fuel filter ruptured close to home(2019). Was lucky to be able to just go fetch a new piece of hose from MIDAS to get it back in working order.

Fuel consumption: Best 10.1l/100 on Long Highway drives, 14.5l/100 for suburb driving.

Verdict: Great vehicle. Just love doing the drive to the Lowveld with it on the open road. Even played a bit at De Wildt, seemed very capable, didn't do the scary stuff yet as I need some basic training on 4x4 driving before pushing the limits a bit more.
