    Default Telescopic Camp Light

I am looking for one of the Telescopic camping lights.

I just want a Telescopic pole and not a fishing rod...

Any idea where I can find one since most of them looks like the fishing rods.

Those telescopic painting poles from Builders also does the job, albeit much longer when retracted than the telescopic rod types.

You could also try 4x4Megaworld. I know that Menlyn had some in stock.

This one seems like the one I am looking for yes, just not a lot of information available on it on the website?

During a recent camp at Sondela, one of our neighbors had on of these to illuminate his campsite that stood roughly 12-15 meters high I would estimate.

    Most annoying.

I for one cannot understand some people wanting so much light at their camp site..

Then for some reason, they think that you would want more light at your campsite as well.

We recently used one on the Lesotho trip. I was not that high and did not look like a fishing rod. For a group it worked very well and was turned off or dimmed when not needed. That was the only light used around the campfire. So for this purpose it worked well. Agree that it can be disturbing if you raise it 15 m and light up the entire campsite.

    I also don't get it.

We were there 4 days and it forced us to rearrange our entire campsite to block that thing with our gazebos.

We had one lead light in the gazebo kitchen area (which was enclosed with 3 side sheets so as to not bother others) and that with our fire was more than enough for our 90sgm campsite with 4 tents.

I recently bought one at Outdoor Warehouse for R700.
Fishing-type rod with flat panel LED.
    Runs from 12v.

Its excellent for what we do: bush camping where there is no electricity. It lights up the camping area so everyone doesnt have to eat with a head-torch shining in each other's eyes.

You can adjust the height and brightness to whatever you want. Brilliant piece of kit.

I have a massive 100w LED spot with it's own day/night sensor. I leave it plugged in. It turns off by itself when the sun comes up.

I need to see ropes, pegs AND the toilet that is 100m away.

I like minimal light, but it can have its place.
Our tour guides set up one on the first night of our Namib trip and it had a huge advantage over other lights as after the rains millions of insects buzzed around it , but it was far away enough that the insects did not bother us.

There is a decent looking telescopic pole from China called Extentool. But have not seen equivalent in SA.

You'll probably only have a working one for the first night if you camp next to me

OW sells the Lumeno branded ones if I remember, a while back I was with a friend when he bought one.
A bit expensive, but that thing is super impressive. If I need one of these lights I'll definitely buy that one.

I used an aluminum telescopic swimming pool pole.....I attached an LED light to the extending pole...works very nice for us...roughly 5m high when fully extended ...it is a practical height while being stiff enough to compensate for strong winds....

Efficient Express has THIS 400W one that is a telescopic pole and not a fishing rod for R350.00. It extends to 4.5m. I just ordered THIS 500W one but with fishing rod type that extends to 5m also R350.00.

Edit - seems both could be fishing rods...
