    Default Gorongosa

Has anyone on this forum visited Gorongosa recently? I see on their website that you are not allowed to self drive so can only go on guided game drives which gets expensive.
What are animal numbers like? I know they certainly did a lot of restocking but is there much to see?
Self catering and camping only which keeps the costs down
Looks like and exciting and different place to explore but may not be worth the distance and expense.
If we did go we would probably come back via Gonarezhou and Nottingham Estates.

I haven't been back there since the self-drive ban was imposed, and the major restocking took place, but suffice it to say that Gorongosa is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited, with several different distinct ecosystems, and superb birding. It is high on my list of parks to revisit.
