Default Richtersveld campsites and drinking water

We have booked for July to stay 2 nights at each at the following camps - De Hoop, Richtersberg and Kokerboomkloof
The website says there is no water available at Kokerboomkloof.
Is there water available at De Hoop and Richtersberg that I can connect a hose to fill up water tanks?
If so, is it potable or just for washing?

No drinking water that I know of. There is river water at De Hoop.

You have to take your own.

As pointed out - De Hoop has water.

    No idea about Richtersberg.

Kokerboomkloof also has water, but this is not guaranteed. From what I understand it is more not there than there, although we were lucky enough to have water there in November.

However, none of the site I've seen seemed to have potable water. Its fine for washing, but take your own for drinking.

De Hoop and Richtersberg both have a submersible solar pump in the river pumping to a tank higher up. So the showers and toilets are all fed by river water.
Kokerboomkloof have large holding tanks (water delivered ) feeding water to the camp sites by gravity. When we were there, there was no water at first. I backtracked the line to the holding tanks. All valves were closed (as result of huge leaks lower down) I reported this when we left but doubt if it was repaired listening to recent comments on the water situation.

I build a filtration system and filtered the river water. We used it for more than a week without problem. Also added n bit of chlorine to be safe.

Take enough drinking water for the time that you expect to be there and ADD a bit more in case of any delays or problems.
River water is OK for showering etc., not so sure about drinking it though ....
Besides that -you could have a problem somewhere away from camp or river, so just take enough drinking water !!

    Hello,

I would be hesitant to drink even filtered or sterilised. I was told that a big concern about the river water is agri-chemical pollutants, especially so low down in the system.

Maybe someone better informed can comment though?

Thanks for the replies so far.
I have a 4 stage water filtration system but I would then need to buy a pump to pump water from the river if necessary
It's a lot of extra weight carrying six days worth of water all the way from JHB
