Default Land Rover parts & Mechanic Zambia

    Good day everybody

I am trying to get some info on SADC countries for if a person has a breakdown. I drive a very old disco 1 300tdi and I am not a mechanic. I am not broken down at the moment but would like to be prepared for if something ever happens.

There are not many land rovers driving around in Zambia but I have seen some defenders, disco 2ís and freelanders so their must be some knowledge and parts available. Iím talking about the regions from Livingstone to Lusaka to Chipata.

Anybody with some info that can help will be appreciated.

Foley's Land Rovers in Livingstone is about the best land rover workshop in the country.
I know people who drive two days to take their land rovers there.

Pilatus Engineering used to be the go-to guys in Lusaka, out on the Leopards Hill Road, D152. They did Series, Defenders and Discos.

A new Dealership (Jaguar Zambia) was opening in 2016 when I left Lusaka, on the Great East Road, T4, could be an option

I think there is a Land Rover Club Zambia on FB, look them up too

And another vote for Foleyís Livingstone!

If their parent company can outfit a TD5 as a hearse for Prince Philip, they can sort you out in Zambia!

If you have an electrical problem and you're not far from Livingstone I suggest contacting Nelson Zhawari in Victoria Falls (+263 7 72815393‬ - if still current) and asking him to cross into Zambia to help out.

Also carry a reasonable spares kit.
Better than waiting for a simple part to arrive from Lusaka or JHB.

Not a LR however just to share, we've reduced our spares kit down to:

    - spare bulbs (legally required anyway)
    - spare serpentine belt
    - spare fuses

In 5 years we've needed one fuse.

Nick Selby at Foleys in Livingstone is the best in the country, spares can sometimes be slow to source but he generally has most common items in stock. He also has a very capable and knowledgeable auto electrician.

    Hello to every Landy-Lover,
    very interesting thread indeed!
As we are proud owners of a fully equipped Defender since 4 years, we wanted to ship it to Walvis last year, but at the date of it's proximately arriving the whole area around the town was completely locked. We are now waiting for our vaccination, ehich might make travelling a bit easier, but our plan is still the same: this car has to drive one day on some rough roads in Southern Africa and we want to let it there for a period of about 2 years. We are no mechanics ourselves so our question is if there are some experts who can provide a more extended list of spare parts which could be necessary to bring along with the car as we have already a secure place in Lusaka where we can store it? Another question is if there are also some experts (in former times normally the mechanics of all the lodges) in the northern parts of the country.
Any answer would be much appreciated!
    Regards
    Topi
