    Thanks Graham.

I was about to perform my generic Friday thread bump. But just before this, I had a moronic moment. I allowed myself to lose focus whilst cutting some wire with my serious side cutters. And took a chunk of flesh out of my thumb...

I've only just managed to get the bleeding under control a few minutes ago. I can type again...

In any case, for those travelling through Harties, please don't buy the wood next to the road...

Also - please don't be a moron like me when working with side cutters.

Also - please have a lekker weekend.

For most people who do not work for government, this would be the "Mampara naweek". ie - the weekend falling equi-distant between paydays... Weekends like this may also make closer venues (such as Harties, for example) more attractive for people to visit. It might also make other cost-cuttings (like cheap wood next to the road in Harties) attractive too...

Seriously - if you're travelling this weekend, travel safe and have fun. And please don't buy the wood in Hartbeespoort.

Those going to Moegatle, we'll see you there.

Generic Friday thread bump on a wet day in Pretoria.

Just a reminder - if you are heading through Harties for warmer climes this weekend, please enjoy it, and have fun.

Also - please do not support the poached wood trade. Do not buy wood next to the road in Hartbeespoort.

    Lekker naweek.

A final thought for the weekend: if you can't be good, be good at it.

Morning folks. It's Friday. Looks as if the weather is going to be perfect for a braai (or many) this weekend.

Enjoy. And if you're travelling, please do not buy the wood next to the road in Harties.

    Lekker naweek.

I played golf at Magalies last Saturday. It was good to note not many buyers at the piles of wood when we passed on our way back at around 12:00.

Usually at the R512/R104 intersection you get a few, but no cars at the wood (only at the flaminke and paddastoele).

    Off topic advice please...

If you buy like 50 bags of this wet sekelbos mix there at harties, I have heard that you then need to wet the wood further at home with water as it helps it drying out quicker/drawing out the sap?

Every now and then I also think theres less and less people buying, and feel a bit of hope, but then, on one weekend I'll see bakkies (always Ford Ranger double cabs, or land cruisers whats going on there?) with trailers and the guy supervising these guys just loading up as much as he can fit in the bakkie and trailer. So sad.

We here will surely head the warnings, but, sadly there are many other clients, otherwise they would not be sitting there selling the wood.

I suspect these "bakkies" buys it cheap in bulk, then sell it in the burbs around PTA/JHB etc.

Nah, who ever told you that has it wrong. If you want to dry it out proppa, you have to make a small fire and then stack it on top of that. This is the quickest way of drying it out.

Wet wood is heavy, you need power to get that weight home!
