    Default Thar dash indicators

On my 2010 Thar dash are indicator lights for 4H and 4L, but is not working.
Is there any way that they can be made to operate?
Do they need to be wired or switches installed?

It would be nice if the indicators light up when 4H and 4L is engaged!

If it has a short stick they don't work, had the same on my Bolero and it is a function of the transfer case being entirely mechanical i.e. it doesn't have sensors. The lights are used when you have a vehicle with an electric selector that operates solenoids to do the selection where micro switches are activated to complete the circuit for the lights.

Surely microswitches can be installed on the selectors?
I assume that the wires are in the harness?

I am sure you can try. I didn't really bother to investigate further once I realised the lack of installed sensors/ switchgear.

Maybe the guys over on the TeamBHP forum can assist.

    Hi Koebelwagen,

Your reply re the sensors in the TFR case does make logical sense, however my 2018 THAR has the indicators in the instrument cluster, and they do function, with the mechanical transfer case lever. I always thought the 4WD system of the first generation THAR and the second generation THAR was the same.

    Interesting ....

    Maybe I must ask Mahindra!
AFAIK the later models only have cosmetic updates:- dashboard and other plastics.
If indicators work on later models, it should be able for earlier models as well! Same gear- and transfer box.

OK, maybe it changed, I had a 2015 model Bolero. It had the lights, like Lappies' Thar but didn't work. The Thar and Bolero have the same transfer case.
