Default A Diary of a Keto Challenge - Meal plan by FitChef Started 19/4/2021

    Starting weight: 122kg

So I just had my first meal:

Grilled Fillet Steak and julienne vegies

It was filling enough for a breakfast, and not bad tasting at all.
The critique I can give, is that the fillet was way overcooked, and I have never like the texture of defrosted potatoes that were reheated in the microwave.

You have the option of warming the food in the oven, but I have to make do with what I have at work.

This was breakfast (Strange eating fillet and veg for breakfast), and you have meals for 3 meals a day.

The one thing that is getting me on this first day is the lack of coffee..... I need coffee

    Ja neh, we shall see.

I used to smoke a long time ago, actually got a lot calmer than what I used to be after stopping that dirty habit, but I replaced cigarettes with food..

Picked up 20kg in 2 years...

Now, we must replace food with buying petrol

Drinking decent coffee makes the no milk no sugar transition so much easier.

    Good luck Andrew.

Did you have lots of fat over the previous week to help you transition from your carb high?

I wouldn't have let go of coffee on keto day 1. There is a lot of research that shows that caffeine helps with fat loss, so there is no urgent need to let go of it today from that point of view. Of course, if you can only drink your coffee with lots of milk and sugar then you have no choice.

But it's going to add to how bad you feel. Even without caffeine withdrawel you are going to feel not great for the first week to ten days. If you can stomach black coffee with stevia or erythritol, rather wait until week 4 and then let go of the coffee.

In my experience day 2 and 3 are the worst, so just hold on through those and then it will get better.

So did I and they do have a staggering selection.

Andrew, which plan/package did you choose? The moderate Keto Mediterranean one?

Andrew, I lost 30 kg in 7 months going full Keto. If you want to go Keto, potato's are a big no-no. Anything that grows under the ground are high carb and the body metabolises them into sugar and then fat. Fruit is sugar except for Avo. Nuts are OK except peanut and cashew. Bread is high carb as is beer. You can drink whiskey, gin, vodka and rum with water, no carbs in those. Avoid anything with sugar in it. Milk has 5% sugar. You can eat as much real and preferably high fat cheese as you like. Full fat yoghurt too. Low fat has had the fat replaced by carbs which forms sugar in the body. Tuna is excellent for no carbs and Omega 3.

You can eat any meat you like and the fat makes you feel full. Chicken skin is OK.

Prof Tim Noakes turned the entire diet world upside down and showed the corporate greed in promoting a high carb diet. The Noakes HFLCNS (High Fat, Low Carb, No Sugar) diet will make you go full keto and lose weight quickly without an increase in exercise. Remember it takes about two weeks on this diet for the body to go into ketosis where it starts burning the fat.

    Good luck.
