Default Pajero LWB - bearings or not the bearings that's the question

Went to have the 300.000 km service last week at our trusted local workshop,
and hubby comes home with news, back wheel bearing broken, don't drive any longer.

Part is ordered at Rola motors and already paid. Almost R 6000.

Accidentally at Rola today for another job, he asks them to check bearings and they say they're fine, it's just the wheel aligent.

    So what now?

To my knowledge wheel bearing can wear, thus you will hear a humming sound, but have not heard of a broken wheel bearing before.
Can Mitsi dealer put their diagnosis in writing, can give you leverage at "trusted indy."

Not sure why this needs to be a Mitsu specialist to verify if the vehicles' bearings are bad! Why not a tyre or wheel specialist?

If it were me, I would take the car to a wheel specialist instead of local workshop that is specialist in servicing of the car. Most of the service centers outsource the wheel jobs to a specialist AFAIK. I might be wrong though.
