    Default Game prices

I can get about 30 Blesbucks and 10 Impalas. What would be a good price to buy it as a package?

It is/was my neighbour's game, but he moved about 2 years ago. I will therefore not have any tranport costs.

I do not know the price. I just know both breed fast. As I remember you are not that far from us. I hope you are hungry or you have plenty feed. We have some issues. Get couple Nyalas. They also seem to double in no time.

Check in both cases if you need new "bulls". Most probably yes. That will cost you. Timing how you bring the new is critical. We paid and bought but the old was stronger. We ate the new.

    Thanks Jouko

Thanks for the timing comment. We were just discussing how we will get new blood in.

Hi, the man who looks after the game on my farm in the Hartbeespoort Dam area says a rough price idea would be Blesbok R2,000 and Impala R1,800. That's without catching and transport. I remember paying about 3 times that much for the Blessies a few years ago when I needed to buy a few. That included transport etc.
    Hope this helps you.

Alive, Blesbuck up to R3k and Impala probably R1.8k.

    Dead, much less, probably R25/kg.

You can find auction prices using Google but check if they are for "specials" and if they include darting and transport. We did ask prices to reduce numbers and they were definitely substantially less than given above when darting and transport were by the buyer.

Go onto the vleis sentraal web page.

Impala are averaging R800 - R1000.00 per unit

Blesbok are averaging R1500.00 per unit

There wasn't a lot of hunting last year so the market is pretty saturated at the moment. You can also lowball because there are no transport costs involved for either yourself or the seller. If he wants to take them to auction its going to cost him. I would offer R500 per impala and R1000.00 per Blesbok and negotiate from there. This is business, not personal and such an offer would be fair.

I would go with these prices. OP most probably have to dispose of all grown up males and get new bulls. Any young male is also for eating when in full size. Can try to sell them to an other farm but... Cannot leave them into the herd just in case. Maybe we could swap I do not think the herds have been maintained properly.

I can only say buggers breed fast. I cannot see any farmer being hungry
