    Default Preferred clutch make

    Asking on behalf of a friend. He got a 79 V6 and the clutch need to be replaced. What is a good make to use?
    Toyota Land Cruiser 76 4.5D V8 "Matchbox". Toyota Hi-Lux D4D 4x4 "Willebees" (My daily drive). Afrispoor Cheetah 2-Sleeper Easy Camper. Hyundai i20 1.6 (SWAMBO's daily drive).

    How many kms on that failed clutch ?

    2000 Patrol GU 4.2D(onkey) "old-timer" and wise at 857 000 km
    2014 Patrol GU 3.0CRD "teenager" in puberty at 123 000 km
    2007 Echo3 Trailer "the nest" Braked Axle fitted at +60 000 km
    2012 NP300 YD2.5 D/C 2x4 High Rider "platkar" at 125 000 km

    54000, but long out of warranty.

    54 000km is not a lot. I know there is/was a recall on the clutches on the V8's due to them slipping on low km's already. Could this be the same issue perhaps?

    Nope the V6 did not have a recall or a clutch problem. Mine going for 130k km on OEM clutch.

    On the v8`s the pressure plate were upgraded in 2016. Our 76 V8 going for 100k km on OEM clutch. Clutch is still fine even with some power upgrades.

    I have seen many trying to force in high range 4x4 where low range is a better option. Witnessed a few smoking clutches on 4x4`s
    on trails and dune driving.
