Default Aircon not working (2.2 xl auto 2016)

    Hi all

Any ideas as to why the aircon would just stop cooling?

It still blows but zero cooling. Kinda happened overnight.

    Appreciate the feedback.

    Tx

Your gas probably escaped. Its normally an oily substance, check if theres perhaps an oily leak somwhere.

Sounds like you might need a new compressor, viscus fan and evaporator.

OK... Got a guy come out to regas the system. It was a bit low but No dice.

Apparently there is no power coming to the AC Compressor. We Figured this out after the AC did not activate upon refill. Fuses and relays are fine....

Any other ideas. Only had the bakkie for 2 months so I have contacted the dealer in the meantime (awaiting feedback)

You should not have had them refill it unless you already discussed this with the dealer. Dealer will now say it was damaged by the people refilling it.

    Let's hope they don't.

Would like to know how the chap that recharged your system knew it was "a bit" short of refrigerant with out the compressor running. The only way to have known this is to monitor suction and discharge pressures with a set of gauges or watch the sight glass, in both cases when the compressor is running. Without the compressor running you can only tell if it is completely empty or has some unknown charge still in it.
Otherwise you have to dump the entire remaining charge, vacuum and recharge to factory spec in weight.

Moving on. If there is not voltage at the clutch coil, then the electrical fault lies earlier on.
Either the AC control system is faulty or the LP (Low Pressure) switch is faulty and is not making or the HP (High Pressure) switch is stuck open. My first guess would be faulty LP switch or a break in this loop.

Unhappy Re: Aircon not working (2.2 xl auto 2016)

It appears the compressor is not getting power. When external power is supplied, the compressor engages.

Currently at the Auto Electrician with them stating its either a
    1. Wiring issue, or
    2. Control module issue.

Either way... its not what you want to hear before going on a road trip.

Just to close off... Turns out it was the ambient temperature sensor that was giving an error message.

2 hours labour (R1200) and a reset and its 100% sorted.
