    Default Amarok metal canopy advice

Hi all, I am looking at replacing my Amarok fiberglass canopy with a metal version.

Would appreciate some feedback on your experiences with whichever brand you went with, to assist with guiding me in the right direction of where to start looking.

At this stage I have not settled on either steel or aluminium, hence the request for advice on your experiences.

    Thanking you all in advance.

I have a RLD that I bought secondhand and it is okay, but would have loved a RSI.

RSI Smartcap on Ford Ranger Wildtrak, not the best fit in my opinion. RSI offered me a refund or I must get used to it. Click image for larger version.

How deep is your pocket? That RSI Smartcap is by far the best looking, without sacrificing practicality.

How does the front alignment look on this canopy? Hard to think that that is correct.

Front is where it should be.
Hilux GD6 has the same issue. They now made a longer rear flange / section for the Hilux. But not for my Ford

I had an RLD on my previous Amarok - I wasn't happy with it or their service in the end. All the powder coating on the doors peeled off due to a manufacturing/prep error and they expected me to pay to have them redone. Canopy had many stress fractures and rust spots. This was some time ago and they seem to be pretty popular (like RSI they're now distributing to the USA) so I would hope they would've sorted these issues by now.

I spent about a year looking for a second hand canopy for my double cab Rok, they're scarce.

RSI and Bushtech are the premium products with nice accessories, but they're VERY expensive. I settled in the end for a Ground Zero aluminium canopy as the best value option for me. Got the weekender special with two cupboards and a drop-down table and roof rails for R25k. Service from Ground Zero has been great and I'm very happy with the fit and finish. The Bushtech and GZ canopies are not the best looking (square) but for me its practicality over aesthetics. The previous gen RSI, Rhino-cab, and RLD are the best looking in terms of following the lines of the cab.

Ive had an RLD for 4 years, no issues at all, paid about R18k at the time. Bakkie stays outside and canopy has served us well on multiple camping and overland trips

    Good product

Also scored a canopy secondhand for next to nothing, worth it to shop around a bit.
I got an Alucab for my Amarok DC, not the prettiest, but it works and is fit for purpose
