Trailboss 300l Compressor

Last weekend my compressor was working fine the one minute and the next totally dead. I dismantled the mechanics down to the components trying to check any faults.

So eventually I get to the bare motor assembly and the bushes does seem okay. When I turn the switch on, 13.8VDC is measured on the bushes and when I turn the motor by hand, sparks is visible between the bushes and the motor. Then the failsafe kicks in and the power is cut automatically.

What is the reason for the motor not turning? Can it be a short on the coils?
Where can I take this Cape Town to be repaired?

Between the segments where the brushes make contact, it must be cleaned out and a light sand of the copper area where brushes make contact. Also how long are the brushes, they might be worn or sticking in holder.

I did just this and put the whole thing together again. Thank you hunter. Pleasant be my surprise that the pump now pumps again
But now I have trust issues

Gonna have to sell to Cash Crusaders and buy me that ARB.

Who knew that the Trailboss compressors only have a 6 months warrantee
Gonna find one with a 2 or 3 year support structure, shows me the brand trust their stuff.

I also bought a trailboss 300l I think it lasted about 45min max from the time I bought it till is was back in the store got it tried to pump up my heavy lyft bag with the Raptor on only got about 3/4 inflated the shut itself off.
so then just spent the exta money on a descent 160l t-max never looked back except had to put clamps on as when it heats up the pipes use to come of but it has never shut down once.

So the pump failed again. Opened it up again and found a possible cause for the failure.

One of the armature windings came loose from the commutator. Lead Solder will not work, so I wiggled a cable tie through the windings and pulled it tight. Then tested this extensively.
Ran the pump on and off from 2Bar to 3 Bar for at least 30 minutes without failure.

Still got trust issues. Should I take it for a rewind or is this repairable.
Need to compare to a new 160l double piston pump cost say from Front Runner or the mentioned T-Max.

Just need to know I can rely on the 18 month old R 3000 pump. Outdoor Warehouse need to up the warrantee on this product, but Anton here in Tygervalley might not be able to justify this to the bigger corporate he works for. Great guy this Anton btw.

Trailboss is the home brand of Outdoor Warehouse. It is a half decent Chinese product, but the 6 month warranty days it all.
It has already let you down twice, it will do so again.

Take it to an armature winder place, they will spot weld/silver solder it back

I Also looked at the 300l/min, but when i saw it draws 90 amps i left it.Maybe that is part of the problem.

You never know hey. 90 Amp is serious power and those little connections might not be strong enough.
Wonder if a rewinding place can confirm this
