I enjoyed reading your report, thanks.

Yes, that is the "problem" with our country. Almost every area you visit has so much to offer that you have to go back for another visit. But then there is always that other area you haven't been to. Oi.....the "problems" we have.

Nice. The Wild Coast is awesome.

NEVER travel in the Transkei at night.

You guys have a good eye for photography, thanks for sharing.

Coincidently, a good friend of ours was involved in the search and rescue at Magwa falls.

Hey man, that was not fair!

It awakened so many memories, that I just want to go back!

I know most of those places very well, but that makes the longing to go back even worse!

Thanks for a fantastic report! I will have to read it a few times!

    Thank you.

From the articles it seems as if it was quite an operation to get to the vehicle?

It was from what we were told.

If you have been to the gorge, it will be obvious that to recover a vehicle would be rather difficult.

I would think nigh impossible from what we saw!

Our "host" at Ntafufu Eco Lodge, Armin, told us a very interesting story about how the Xhosa lured the Zulu impi's into falling down the gorge on a misty morning.

    Back to your report.

I fully agree with your opinion re Coffee Bay. The only place there which I visit, is the Coffee Bay Hotel, which is quite good.
The rest is "Mthatha by the Sea", IMHO.

What a lovely written trip report and no doubt has whet your appetite.
I have been going to the wild coast for the past 45 years specifically the Mbotyi area and have never got tired of the place so many magnificent walks and amazing bird life too. Have enjoyed incredible fishing holidays all along that coastal area.
So it was a pity you never had the time to actually spend a few days there and one does not have to stay at the Lodge who do at times seem rather unfriendly.

We have a cottage at Mbotyi which we do rent out as a self catering facility and if you ever interested you can send me an email for all the details.

The vulture colony is definitely a worthwhile visit as are all the waterfalls

Yes obviously what appeals to some is not always appealing to others but if you like the rustic beauty of the wild coast, enjoy walks and sight seeing it can be a worthwhile area to spend more time

Again thanks for your trip experience to the wild coast.
    Jo

Well thank you for sharing your lovely road trip report.
It will definitely be used as a reference to some planning for one of my future trips.
I have watched the "development" of the Sani pass with interest. I have had the pleasure of travelling up and down the pass many times in many different modes of transport, and it can be quite a challenge. The Wild coast remains largely a mystery to me and its definitely time to go and explore!
