    Default Covid and Namibia

There is a very good chance that we will be able to see one of our daughters in May in Namibia(they will be flying in from Dubai). If we decide to drive there what will the covid procedure be? Will it make sense to avoid the Botswana shortcut to avoid 2 border crossings?

We are in the process now.
Did our test yesterday late morning and received our certificates yesterday evening.
We used Pathcare and they gave us a link to our certificates.
Namibia has a 7 day window after the test to cross the border. We are most definitely taking the longer route to avoid extra Botswana borders.

Just make sure you don't require the original signed by the dr.
When I fly out and all stops in-between they want to see the original.

    There isn't an "original".
The one they give you is stamped and watermarked with your own ID No.

Thanks a stack. Care to share your route please? Coming back I assume the same applies?

I think thats what he meant with original, they dont accept copies etc. Has to have original stamp and signature on, no reprints etc.

To be pedantic, the signature won't be original - as in the pen indentation on the paper or the ability to smudge the ink.
But yeah, the printed internet link is the only copy I will get and have.
If that fails, then the last option will be my smooth-talking, winning personality.

No fixed route and no schedule. We are 3 cars traveling together.
From Ariamsvlei we head north along the "lesser" roads. Only our 1st night is booked and there is a general desire to eventually get to the Kunene.

Reporting date & time must be within 72 hours of you entering SA.

When we exited SA (to enter Namibia) at the Nakob border post last week, we enquired about our return later and were shown the rapid test office at the border.
Unless something changes, you arrive at the border, get a swab rammed up your snozzle, get a piece of paper and proceed with the rest of your border crossing "pain". No pre-testing required.

    FWIW:
Daughter travelled from Centurion to Nam on Sunday with a two day old Covid 'travel' test certificate handy, but had to do the rapid test when they entered Botswana though.

They plan to return on ~22 April, will update with the return info when they are back.

Entering Botswana is much more complicated.
The lodges here in the Caprivi are complaing that nobody is passing through to and from Botswana.

Apologies to the OP for adding my question, but it fits the thread title...

Does anyone know the requirements for children entering Namibia and PCR testing?

In South Africa, kids under 5 years old do not need to be tested. Same for Namibia?

    Thanks

In the regulation it doesn't seem to exclude children below a certain age from the requirements of taking a test.
However, as from beginning of April, Namibia does accept the cheaper anti gene test according to the attached document.amendment-to-covid-19-health-regulations-31.03.2021-1.pdf
