Just my tip. Rather buy the 20L model as the 10L model is very low and you always have to put something under it to lift. More important as we get older.

Very practical for USE be it #1 or#2.

I bought one for my wife to make life easier when camping in the bundus, but have also started using it when the grand kiddies are joining us in a caravan camp environment.

I have a shower tent specifically for the porta potty and the girls think I am the BEST Oupa around!!

So lets share our thoughts on the elephant in the room....it seems most users ONLY want to do #1 because it is "easier" to clean. The chemicals used breaks down all solids and it becomes easy to rinse, BUT I suspect the real reason why the above have expressed clearly that they would ONLY allow #1 is because they are squeamish!

Come on tough guys, we have all had our army days and those long drops would have smelled like a leather tannery.

I bet you never did nappy drills as well or did you use the braai tongs to perform that task?

So get use to it and clean the porta potty ... I am sure you can get over that phobia!

    Happy camping!!

Best quality chemicals are key! With the better chemicals #1 or #2 is not a problem. Just make sure you get the eco friendly versions when you plan on emptying it in a biochemical drain so as to not kill the required organisms.

With good chemicals cleaning is really not an issue. Rather pay a bit more for the better versions which will leave very little, if any smell or solids.

1&2 depends on the potty's capacity as well as your own. They have indicators to warn you in time. Just use proper chemicals. Check for green chemicals and be kind to your camping site infrastructure.

3 - Cleaning is easy enough, especially when the camping site has a proper station for potties. On your last day of camping, clean it there and then, and prime it with water and chemicals until the next camp. At the next camp, just add chemicals again.

My wife needs the porta potty close by at night. It is a life saver for her as opening the caravan door and then the tent flap just takes to0 long.

I have to rules regarding porta potty use.
    1. You do a number 2 in it then you clean it.
    2. Whatever sex you are, sit when doing a number 1. Nobodies aim is good in pitch dark

Use it all the time for #1 at night or even quickly during the day to avoid a trip to the ablutions.

Rarely use it for #2, only if necessary, but have not had an issue when doing so. Cleaning it is just one of those things you do, not the end of the world. Good chemicals really make it easy, and use the special toilet paper that breaks down properly.
