Default The new Ford - VW bakkie thread

Do I wait for the new VW Ranger, to show it's face, or do I buy a Raptor now?

Or do I wait for the Ford Amarok?

Will the Ford look like a VDub, or will the Dub have a blue streak in its DNA?

    What do you think?

I would rather look for a used Pajero

Just kidding it depends which parts are used where.

But then again I would just buy the new Isuzu if it was my money.

Yip, suddenly the Isuzu name becomes much more significant!

I think it is only logical that it will be more Ford than VW, due to the Ford being used as the base. But depending on what engines, gearboxes and suspension will be used, it can be anything.

    Impossible to tell.

I'd go for a Raptor now, simply because the new Ranger will still be a true Ford.

PS. I am a closet Raptor fan, really wouldn't mind one but truely have no use for it at the price.

One question for you on the Raptor..
Will the lower payload not be an issue when you are fully loaded and towing the campervan?

A top 4x4 Hilux has but a 100kg higher payload.. And the Ranger has longer travel, so will be able to cope with the load better, before getting bouncy

But fords are unreliable, have a rubbish gearbox and leak oil, VW's have no low range or engine cover and cant reverse over a speed bump, surely Toyota is the answer....
