    Default Project 2: Defender 130 V.3-Amigos ??

I am dreaming from a Defender 130 for a very long time.

Any way. I could perhaps pick one up that needs lots of TLC, and the idea is to make it the second project for my son.

For now he will help to repair our D2.

With the D2 I got as donor, there is a Full ABS and ACE system and some other parts.

So I was thinking the past two days...

I would like to put the Disco axles under the Defender 130, along with the ACE and ABS so that it has air suspension, ACE and traction control.

Drive Train will be TD5 Auto.

    Hence, the Defender 130 V.3-Amigos.

I am sure that will be one very damn nice vehicle.

What would you say? For some reason I don't think that would be called raping a Defender.

I do not think Disco 2 rear axles or air suspension are rated for a 130 load capacity. It also have a Watts linkage lateral location. Will you stay with that, or convert to the Defender set-up? Will require lots of hacking and welding either way.

Yes. The 130 axle apparently has thicker metal in the housing.

So you can ask if you want to do it daily, port occasionally.

Regarding the D2 linkage, if you want ACE probably better to keep it that way.

But I do have a bent chassis I can cut from.

    Some more research.

Seems the Disco 2 axles on Defenders are a very common conversion in the UK.

Those oaks have jigs for the Brackets.

I could not find a single complaint that this does not work.

Not much is impossible when it comes to modifying vehicles.
Money and ability are the normal barriers to success.

I think this would be a very cool 130. Working with the self-levelling of the D2 suspension you would have an awesome tow vehicle, even if the nominal loadbed capacity of the 130 is reduced a bit.

Night caught up with us and we stopped for fuel in Bothaville at 19:30.

With the car trailer running much wider than the Defender, it makes it just too dangerous on the narrow roads.

We decided to sleep over and have a dinner and beer.

Tomorrow early, we will do a brekkie and go.
