Walk in any shopping center parking area and check the licenses. Plenty outdated - some in fancy cars. I really do not know how they get past the road blocks.

I recall seeing an article, just didn't bother reading it. I don't think it's fake, but as far as I know the Gauteng minister of transport is trying to scrap it completely. Or some minister or big shot. And by it I mean e tolls as a whole

All our tractors, bakkies and trailers have expired licenses. Our local authority expired, now you make an appointment to relicence in Queenstown, only to find that the person concerned is sick, gone shopping or just plain AWOL.

We explain to the cop, get the fine and never pay. what else must we do?

My DIL has to do that, here where I live I need to be at the office at 6.00am, then the guy doing the marshalling at the entrance shows up 20 minutes late, so 2 and a half hours later you may have your renewed Licence.

As was mentioned many expired licenses, not because or tardiness but difficulty.

This is the exact reason that I will not support the E-Toll system. In a nutshell a 'foreign entity' owns our roads SANRAL has a 'concession' which they have outsourced and we must pay for this 'service'??

They can start bt getting rid of the gates at Zambezi and Stormvoël off and onramps onto the N1. It just buggers up the traffic flow in the morning and I still don't get why we Moantana people and Moot dwellers must pay but the rest of Petoorsdorp travels for free.

I have followed up this business for a long time. You are old enough that you should remember how PW failed in putting tolls on the highway around JHB. Building of the toll gates started but they were not completed. They were removed. He did get toll gates onto other roads but there were strict rules to do this.

As I remember Kapsch was not the original contractor. They bought the business. Problem with these "big" international companies is that they have "development partner", e.g. somebody who gets plenty money on a side for nothing. I am sure that this contract is the same. (Early State Capture)

I, or actually my company, pay the E toll fees. It is small amount after the discounts, claims to customers and tax benefits (VAT registered). Having the Tag we drive through toll gates on highways. One of them is every time we go to the cottage. People sit in waiting to pay. We drive through - what a big benefit.

E toll idea is better than AARTO by JHB. We have better roads due to original plan by EToll. AARTO is pure cash cow for private people without any benefit for the road users. When JHB lost the speed trapping license for more than a year people were driving about the same as before. No improvement in road safety.

Someone told my friend's cousin's uncle that bribes were paid to our decision makers to the tune of 20 billion which they are unable to pay back therefore the contract rolls on and on......

They can only deny you a renewal if you have an enforcement order against you. Check before you hit the queues. In KZN the cops are too useless to enforce even the most basic of laws, they've been unable to use speed cameras due to a lost court case about 5 years ago.
