Land Rover Freelander 2 SD4 SE intermittent cutting out of engine

Hi All
I have a 2014 Freelander 2 with 120 000 kms on the clock.
There is an intermittent problem in that at low revs e.g. at a traffic light or 3 way stop, the engine will cough and die.
I then put the engine into Park and then restart straight away and the engine starts and I put it into Drive and the vehicle pulls away without a problem.
It can run for a few hundred kms and then suddenly will cut out again, esp in a vulnerable place like at a traffic light.
Yesterday for the first time, it acted up at around 110 kmh. This was a first.
The vehicle has been serviced by Land Rover and filters changed as per spec.
Any advice out there??

Where are you based? If in Pta area, take it to Mikebob on the forum. He knows his landies.

Otherwise, get it to someone who can read error codes.

I think it might be your crank position sensor, but I could be way off.

Also, you should start looking at a gearbox flush. Mine had a slight shudder, though my car sits in 180k, a flush sorted this out though.

90% sure it is the crank positioning sensor.Search YT how to replace.Did exactly the same.I cleaned the sensor with contact cleaner a long time ago and still fine.Known issue and easy fix.

Thanks for the advice everyone. This is difficult to pin down.
Tried changing the throttle valve actuator, didn't make any difference.
Next would be the EGR valve but it us an expensive fix.
Anyway, let's see where this journey takes me and hopefully don't go bankrupt in-between!!

Why don't you start with the crank position sensor, it should be the cheapest as well
