    Default IAT Cookbook

We have an opportunity to publish an IAT Cookbook and we want to gauge the response from Forum members, in terms of the viability, the cost and the IAT contributions. (Would you be happy to have your IAT dish published and if so, can you assist with the recipe and photos)

If yes to the above please tick the box. If no, just dont tick the box

From Rob. P to Dirk, Stan Weakley and myself:

''We are wanting to gauge the forum members appetite for a recipe book in honour of Riaan van Wyk, and use it as a fund raiser for the family.

We need to sell a minimum of 100 books as that gives us the best return on a litho print run - the book would be A4 approx 100 pages double sided with a soft cover.

Initially the thought was to use forum posts, but it is not practical due to numerous reasons, from image quality to the limited information on the posts.
The thought is for members to download a pdf of the requirements and will include a template on how the info needs to be presented:
    Ingredients
    Instructions
One high quality photo of the final dish

This project is a major undertaking and would require serious input from forum members.''

It encompasses many things...seize they day, strike while the iron is hot, dont sit on your laurels. The time is now and make hay while the sun shines and all those kinds of things.

But to bring it down to the bare meaning.
Pour a drink and light the fire (heat source) and then you know that

It Are Time is a braai thread started by Apocalypse a number of years ago. Original thread here:

    https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...RE-TIME-thread

Riaan van Wyk was a nightly contributor over the last couple of years until his untimely passing in December last year. It became a social hub for Forum members to banter while braaing and showing off their skills.

A new RvW memorial thread was started here:

    https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...emorial-Thread

IAT became, regardless of weather, social, economic and political issues of the day, a chill zone dedicated to fire, comeraderie, good food and a celebration of life in general.

The rules are simple, take a photo of your fire (heat source), what drink you have in hand and your food being cooked and just relax.

(One of Riaan's opening posts in Karliens oven)

Will these be basic cook camp recipes or those complicated recipes that require 20 different spices with Latin names.

I think the recipes will evolve spontaneously but think would ultimately be a range of tried and trusted favorites done properly and also more exotic meals that many would not realize are capable of being cooked outdoors or when camping.
I will definitely buy a copy and will make an effort to contribute recipes and favorites of ours. It can evolve to be a worthy tribute to Riaan.
Thanks to Estee (Sean Towlson), Onematch (Rob Pollock) and Dirk for having done the original spadework and to Rob for originating the concept.

Mostly just good straight forward recipes that can be done at home or around a camp fire.

PS. If you go through the thread you will find exotic spices and erbs like onyons or tear making berries, anti-vampire goeders as well as veg like tomyartos, perritos, raais and even meats like ngulube diffs.

    :-)

Some unusual techniques using anti-CIA hat making material and flaaing are used often. Measurements like gooi and varkdops are used regularly too
