I will most definitely want one and would make a modest contribution if you are sort of recipes.

I hope the writing style will be kept and that the look and feel will echo the thread, I love visiting if only to read the explainings of how to do and the pichas

    Nice idea.
Theres also a nice thread floating around on braai tips and tricks. It didnt grow as well as I thought it would, but, there were some nice tips in it I found.
Maybe a braai tips and tricks chapter would be nice to have in the book (for useless braai'ers like me!)

Great idea Graham. I have picked up quite a bit from both threads.

I think a Glossary of terms will also be required for instance, what exactly is an ngulube diff or perritos or for that matter, a dingus or dis ting or even a round black dingus with a deksel

    I echo this!

Maybe a page of translations in the front? For example:

    Anti-vampire Garlic
    Anti-CIA Tinfoil

EDIT: I see Sean has already said it will be included.

    Just a thought

Looking at the price of R350 to R500 it must be litho?

On a 100 sheet book you are looking at 6 and a quarter sections, thus 6 sections times 8 plates gives you 48 plates. The cost on 48 plates will be roughly R4 752. Then you must add your paper, ink, make readies and machine time. The cost on printing 100 books will be roughly R8 000 to R10 000, then you must still PUR bound the books and add the mark up.

I don't know who quoted you how much, but litho just don't make sense. Unless they quoted you much less than my calculations, then it is a bargain

PM me the specs of the book (paper grammage etc) and let me have a look at it if you want.
Why not just do it digitally ? Online, whatever, downloadable with the paid for code ?

I suggested a few times to Riaan when he was still with us that he should do, not only this, but also his amazing and inspiring photo's (If that is still a word these days).
And we should then also include some of his vast knowledge of flora in the northern KZN area and the Zulu culture in which he was very much involved.

OK, this will expand the project and cost more I guess.(Or if digital, maybe not ?)
I do not understand all the complexities of these new publication methods - but would contribute within my own resources and financial limits.

Sean, thank you so MUCH for starting this thread.

Riaan was a really special person. We do not find these "gems" too often.
He deserves to have his contributions to the forum and life generally to be recognised and rewarded for his much loved family.

They did not have an easy journey.

I know that this amazing forum will support the initiative ..... Met-out a doubt.

I would also be interested in buying one, or two... if it can be kept simple, like the Bush Cooking by Roothy. It is also enjoyable to read while you cook. Like when he measures time it takes by the amount of beers he can drink in that time etc.

I would definitely buy the book.
I would feel honored if one of my recipes actually makes it into the book.
It would be cool if we could use some traditional IAT terms ins the book. Like the scheming and the tsiken in the anti cia hat material etc.

Maybe both options then, fair enough.

Printed option - involves much more though - think: Paper, ink, other printing costs, delivery costs to wherever ...

So maybe a differential price for digital vs printed hard copy & delivery versions ?

Surely that would not be unreasonable ?

Anyway, we ALL wan tto contribute in the best way we can I am sure.
We know the family and really, really appreciate the support already given to date and still offered by members of this forum.

We will support this effort and would like to encourage others to do so too.
If you ever knew, met or in any other way inter-reacted with Riaan the you would understand.
