Default FNB and sent Pin Codes

Every time I try log onto FNB Banking I wait for a pin message on my mobile, and or never get a pin and or have to request that the resend the pin multiple times. When I finally gain access it is no different, every transaction that require authorising I go through the same dilemma.

    Anyone else with the same.

Sorry, can't help. But, if it's any consolation, be thankful you didn't have to go through the Nedbank "upgrade" in February... it could be worse.

Why OTP, don't you now authorise with the app?

FNB did away with OTP PIN's a while ago, sort of.

I assume you don't have the App?
From what I understand, they will first try and push notify you via the App, if there is no response from the App, or after a certain amount of time they will finally follow up with an SMS/USSD.

Confirm the above is....they first try to get authorisation via the FNB App...then revert to the OTP via sms if they don't get a response.....

It is the FNB phone App. They send me a message an I enter my pin and the transaction goes ahead. What am I missing?

My FNB app allows me to authorize transactions via the app.

    No pin needed.

I did not mention it was business banking if that makes a difference.

    So how does that work?

I logon and my phone beeps, and I have to type in my pin. Don't any any means of circumventing this?

No way of going around it unfortunately. FNB is pushing on with getting rid of the OTP. This new way is a safer way of authenticating transactions IMO. Download the app on your phone and register the device with your online banking. From thereon out if you attempt to make any online banking transaction you will be requested to confirm on the app on your phone (you just click approve and if its an unusual payment they may request a pin). You can also make payments from your phone in which case the 2 factor authentication does not apply but they may resort to a OTP on certain transactions. You can also setup biometric (fingerprint) security that will allow you to log in at a touch or authenticate transactions that way.

The app is quite intuitive so its worth it.

I have the App installed and use it? Perhaps there are limits set in the banking profile which requires all transactions to be authorised. Will check tomorrow.

Either way, what worked three days ago is sporadically working now.
